31  Model Specific Discussions / Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Trans Am racing pace car pics...are there any? on: November 21, 2013, 08:11:49 PM
scott, thank you ! for posting the shot from '68 trans-am at the glen. you might very well be right about it being from the program for the 1969 race. I seem to remember it was part of an article on trans-am sedans, and was a two page image. It might even have been from some where like hot rod magazine ! it is worthwhile to look in some other publications, which had stuff on different  racing series. I will PM you as to your questions on the '66 can-am. don't want to side track this thread.

SMKZ28, I have no idea why fishers camaro went from black to silver, in the non sanctioned sedan [trans-am] race at tremblant in '67. the car was damaged on the front at that race and didn't finish due to engine problems. somewhere I recall reading that the car was painted yellow after that and got the moniker "cat skinners" as a dig against penske ? because godsall distributed a different make of heavy machinery in canada. JON could chime in here, his depth of knowledge is incredible ! !
SMK you have much better eyes than me when it comes to finding little nuances in photos. maybe there is some clue in the fuel filler set up on the fisher car, from race to race. http://www.autocourse.ca/index.php?file=photos.html  I'm sure you know the autocourse site, there are quite a number of photos from that race there.

found this pretty cool shot of I believe, smokey's camaro on the pole for a NASCAR GT race. guessing 1968 ? the shot is about half way down the page. followed by a pic of the two cougars from 1967. hope the link works.

SMKZ28,as for question #2 for jon, I have in my hot little hand the program for the '68 trans-am a tremblant. I went through it twice, but didn't see any mention of the official car or any G.M ad surprisingly ! I may have missed something, always a possibility.

question, back in post #77 by smkz28, the first shot of kolb in the miami speedway car. are those standard disc brake wheels on the car ? they do look a little wider to me.

thanks shadow & jon, I guess when one proof reads a book before publishing, some things can slip through the cracks. I am surprised that something so important in camaro history would be missed. It is a huge undertaking to get a book in print. It is a great book otherwise.

my 2001 copy of friedman's trans-am book is missing a crucial bit of info at the back. the O-2ltr results for the marlboro race, august 12th 1967. camaro's first win in the trans-am series. driven by donohue & fisher.

robert, thanks for the clarification on the class for the tucker AMX. the photos I found were from I think the garage blog. maybe bud tucker could get them posted here. interesting that the photo of the chitwood camaro posted on the '67 trans-am thread is from bob tucker ! no relation ?

not just what your after, shadow but bob tucker ran a '68 or '69 AMX for bannerman motors from toronto in sedan events in the province of ontario in 1969. photos of this car are hard to find. I have a few shots of this car from the net, at mosport race track. it ran in pretty much stock body configuration.

jon, the above shot of the washburn car would that be '69 or '70 or later ? going by the hood. do you know if this was a trans-am race or a regional. just looking at A sedan on the door..

hi geoff, welcome to the group. sorry did not reply to your e-mail, was away. you said in your message you wanted to make a poster with the program and an image of a camaro. what is it you were wanting to do with it ? you can find an image of the 1968 st. jovite program here in the thread "1968 st. jovite trans-am" the only image I know of the 1970 program and it's very small ! is on the site autocourse.ca. sorry I can't do links or post photos. hope this is of some help.

jon, question about post #147 on the reinhardt ex sunoco camaro. I am a bit confused. is this the same car that reinhardt ran bodied as a "68 with KLM & NcNamara sponsorship ? I also have a article from a english magazine on the "wiggins-teape" car raced by brian muir in england that says this is the ex reinhardt car. to further muddy the waters ! I also have a color shot of a light blue with dark blue multiple upper body striped & dark blue lower '67 bodied car with KLM & McNamara sponsor that is from brno in 1969 are these all the same car ? I have a number of photos from the net of all the above mentioned cars.  perhaps this should be in another thread ? but since the reinhardt car was brought up here, I thought I'd ask.
