67jeffreyt, thanks for starting this topic, Coming back to this just for interest, william, in your post about the COPO cars & the ZL2

hood. I have the '69 GM Vehicle Ordering Manual for the Camaro  that dealers had. It is dated April 1, 1969. The  "Hood,

Special Ducted ZL2"  shows on the  blue sheet, but not on the white one listing the options. There are no COPO options showing on

the sheet with Power Teams, was this something that came in after this date, April 1, 1969. Was there a separate, or later listing.

Maybe because this is the Canadian book, it was not available. I think there were COPOs sold in Canada ?

Ready to learn, Mike.

Here are a couple of ads for the Camaro with the Super Scoop. I really like the one that says "insert foot...open mouth"
The ads from that time were really cool !

Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Racing seats

This photo may have been posted on the forum before by Jon ? Craig Fisher's Camaro prep.

Did they really just use what looks to be a stock seat, with side bars ?  I know it was early times,,,, but   ???

Also looks to be some work on the front fender ?

Foreign Camaros / Australian Camaros

I know there is a thread in the Trans-Am section on cars raced in Australia. Where Camaros  in Australia converted by the manufacturer, or individually by private persons ?

I found this Australian magazine "sports Car World" April '67 on E-bay, I didn't buy it. Here is a scan of the cover, and a photo of the engine, that's all that was shown in the listing. It looks like it has '68 disc brake wheel covers. I suppose by that date the '68s were out, so it's possible for those caps to be on the car. Also looks to be an AC car ? Maybe someone has this magazine, there would be more photos.

Perhaps someone has more photos of cars converted to right hand drive.

Jon, you beat me to it !  lot better than I have to offer !

Brian, the car is looking great !

As for the emblem and stripe configuration, I'm sure Jon will come up with something from his extensive files, the car appeared in a number of publications.

There is this, not the best, this is the pre production Z tested at Riverside in late '66. Jon is this stripe/emblem relationship representative of the production item ? (this image is from the Michael Lamm "The Great Camaro" book) it looks like there is a slight cut out on the stripe for the C.

Don't want to side track the thread, but have some questions regarding that first year.

Jon, I know this is probably already been covered here, did all '67 Zs come with stripes ? or was it a delete option ? I see some early photos with and with out ?

I also have images where there are no emblems, were they deleted to save a few ounces on race cars ?

I also have seen images of race cars with the bumble bee stripe on the nose, were some SS/RS cars converted to 302s due to a lack of availability of Z's that first year ? would there have been extra 302 engines able to be ordered, or did some build there own ?

Thanks, Mike

This is from Corvette News, volume 10, number 3. not seen this shot before. looks like it's at a race track, you can see cars on the hill behind. Jon probably has the answer.

General Discussion / '69 Camaro pre production prototypes & pilot cars ?
« on: August 16, 2018, 12:20:44 AM »
I posted this pic here before, but I don't think there was a answer. what is the story on this one ? SS with Z stripes and looks like a Z/28 emblem on the left front fender. a prototype, or pilot car ?

with the knowledge base here, some one should know the answer.

looks like a official GM photo.

Thanks Jon for that link to the article on Fisher from the Canadian source. Here's a photo of Craig Fisher (in truck) and Jerry Schwarz from the '68 Continental Divide Trans-Am. Also Craig is seen in the Firebird circa July '68.

photos from Craig Fisher's personal collection
