Trans-Am Camaros / 1968 Z/28 at Kar-Kraft
« on: December 29, 2022, 06:51:42 PM »
Looking for something else I came across this photo in the Kar-Kraft book by Charlie Henry.

'68 Camaro Z/28, racing wheels and tires, bumper removed, looks to have a cage. Any thing more known about this car ?

Jon ? ?

6-cylinder Camaros / '67 Camaro 155HP questions
« on: March 29, 2020, 09:14:22 PM »
Can some one answer these questions for me ? I live in Canada had a '67 (long since gone to the endless highway in the sky ) Ermine white, bright blue bucket seats, standard interior, six, auto on the column.the VIN was 123 377M 122481.

Is there a data base where I could find that VIN, that would tell me when and where the car was produced ?

I should remember, but don't if it had power brakes and steering  ::)

I bought the car in '70, it had shoulder belts, where they an option, or dealer installed ?

It had the Camaro script on the front fenders, under which there was the emblem for the 250 six, I've seen some cars with the Camaro script, some don't, did it depend what options, engine, where on the car ?

On a 250 155 horse did the muffler sit between the rear axle and the fuel tank, and would it exit on the driver's side of the car ?

Are there any images of unrestored, or correctly restored six cyl. engine compartments .

Was the whole engine Chevy orange, including the valve cover, and oil pan ?

The engine size decal would be be on top of the air cleaner, would there be tune up decals on the air cleaner, or on the fan shroud?

I've included two photos of the car, (sorry I couldn't seem to get them smaller  ???) around '72, it was getting tired !

This all to do with building a scale model of the car, like to have the details right.

This is a great forum, I've posted mostly in the Trans-Am racing thread.

General Discussion / dealer release date for '69 Z/28s ?
« on: January 22, 2020, 08:22:11 PM »
 A bit of topic  ;)

What was the date that '69 Z's were for sale at dealers, and available to the public. was it the same all across the country (U.S) or

was the roll out different depending on the zone ?

Asking because I'm trying to date a photo (image below) that the caption says it is 1968, It's supposed to be Courtland, Alabama,

there is a Daytona Yellow ? '69 Z on the grid behind the Shelby Mustang.  This all has to do with identifying where and when for

Ferrari to the left of the GT350 (Charlie Kemp..5R538)

PS: sorry 'bout the size of the pic, tried to make it as small as possible, scroll right and left to see the whole image .

Foreign Camaros / Australian Camaros
« on: February 09, 2019, 01:27:49 AM »
I know there is a thread in the Trans-Am section on cars raced in Australia. Where Camaros  in Australia converted by the manufacturer, or individually by private persons ?

I found this Australian magazine "sports Car World" April '67 on E-bay, I didn't buy it. Here is a scan of the cover, and a photo of the engine, that's all that was shown in the listing. It looks like it has '68 disc brake wheel covers. I suppose by that date the '68s were out, so it's possible for those caps to be on the car. Also looks to be an AC car ? Maybe someone has this magazine, there would be more photos.

Perhaps someone has more photos of cars converted to right hand drive.

General Discussion / '69 Camaro pre production prototypes & pilot cars ?
« on: August 16, 2018, 12:20:44 AM »
I posted this pic here before, but I don't think there was a answer. what is the story on this one ? SS with Z stripes and looks like a Z/28 emblem on the left front fender. a prototype, or pilot car ?

with the knowledge base here, some one should know the answer.

looks like a official GM photo.

General Discussion / 69 Z/28 SS Promo Pic
« on: March 13, 2013, 01:51:35 AM »
hi, I have from the net, what looks to be a g.m. photo, b&w of a 69 camaro on the banking at the test track. the car has Z'dr stripes, SS on the grill, vinyl roof, early short rear spoiler. can't see clearly, but also looks to have Z/28 emblems on front fender. does any know this pic, my guess is it is a early pre-production prototype. unusual combo of options. any opinions ?
