General Discussion / 1969 Camaro AD rally wheel question
« on: March 26, 2021, 04:11:01 PM »
I have an early Van Nuys 1969 Z28 Camaro built 09D 1968.  Four of the wheels were clearly K 1 8 8 9.  In searching for a spare tire wheel I came across an AD wheel stamped K 1 8 8 19.  Does anybody know if the valve stem holes drilled before and after wheel date code stamping?  Attached are pictures.  Thanks, Mike

Restoration / Re: Dated hose clamps

I would also try contacting Bill Hodell at 330 832 0871.  He has many original wittek hose clamps and really knows his stuff.

If you want your car 100% correct they are worth the $80 the seller is asking as original ones are impossible to find,

Danny,
Measure the front stabilizer bar, it should be 15/16 ".  They used 15/16" on 1964 F40 suspension.  In 1963 they only used 15/16" on Z06 cars. It is possible it could have been switched sometime in its life. Look at the front brakes to see if it has vented backing plates, fans and front scoops which were Z06 items only. Check to see if the springs were painted black with blue checking daubs on the lowering mounting rings which are Z06 only.

Good Luck.

All 1963 Corvettes did not have hood blocks.
Early cars up to around vin 6500 had no blocks or wedges and no provision for them. From around 6500 up to 7300 there were nut plates on the hood fore and aft but holes were plugged. From around 7300 up to around 14000 vin all four wedges were present. From around 14000 to 16000 vin on coupes and 14000 to 19000 on convertibles only the two rear wedges were present. The forward holes may or may not be plugged. Coupes after around 16000 and convertibles after around 19000 usually had no wedges, except if they did...

Thanks

What is pictured is an original Corvette 1963 Z06 and 1964 J56 master brake cylinder. Very rare!

General Discussion / 1969 Camaro Z28 distributor 1111480
« on: September 22, 2018, 02:21:31 AM »
Question.

Why a lot of the 1969 Camaro Z28 distributors (1111480) seemed to get traded out with something else back in the day?

Thanks for the replies. I will have him look at the inside of his glove box door.  I am trying to help out a friend. The car does not have a spare tire, so I went over to his house with an original 1969 rally rim with an original 7:35 x 14 tire on it thinking it would work. There was no way it would fit in the truck. We measured inside the trunklining up the spare tire hook and think the tire would have to be no more than 24" in diameter to fit. So I went home and measured an original Goodyear Polyglass E70 x 14 tire I had and found it was 25.25" in diameter. I then measured an E60 x 14 Goodyear polyglas tire and it was 24" in diameter.

We are just trying to figure this out. The car does have power front disk brakes. They drive their car a lot and would like to have a spare tire available. I am not sure an original space saver tire would be a safe alternative.

We are open to all suggestions.

What size/type of spare tire would have come in a 1968 Camaro convertible with a fold down rear seat from the factory?

Thanks,
Mike
