Restoration / 67 RS Oil Gauge and Warning Light
« on: February 22, 2022, 11:40:50 AM »
Hi, restoring a 67 RS convertible with console and gauges.  The dash cluster has the  the "OIL" warning light and the new wiring harness seems to have a connector for a pressure sensor on the engine. Were both the gauge and warning light active on these cars originally?  If so, could someone either describe or post a photo of the sender unit on the engine please? Thanks.

Hi, does anyone have a photograph of the convertible top motor cover installed on an original or restored car?  My car has the fold down rear seat. Thanks.

Decoding/Numbers / 67 327 Casting Date Location
« on: September 30, 2020, 12:04:30 PM »
Hi, I have a 327 with the casting date in what seems to be an unusual location. I can't find anything online or in the forums that shows a cast date in this location. There is no cast number in the usual location behind the distributor. The casting date code appears to be A 23 7 which seems about correct for this block.
Assembly numbers are long gone as the engine is now at + 0.060 and has had deck machined. There is no square headed plug at the front of the engine.  The engine is in Australia and will shortly be installed in my 67 Camaro. Appreciate any assistance.

Decoding/Numbers / Exhaust Manifold Casting Number Orientation
« on: September 16, 2020, 12:23:51 PM »
Hi All,

I have recently purchased a LH exhaust manifold to replace my original one which had been repaired previously.  The replacement appears to be the same in all respects, apart from the casting number being upside down.  Is this unusual or common?  A couple of photos attached.

Foreign Camaros / French 67 Camaro with 283 Engine
« on: March 14, 2020, 04:05:57 AM »
Hi, previous post has all the car details.  In summary, through GM France to Cambodia.
Body done and being assembled and ready to rebuild engine, however some concerns now I've had a good look at it.
Car decals are 327 and assumed this to be the case, however casting number 3756519 seems to be an older 283.  On removing heads, bores are all sleeved at 3.625", stroke 3.00" for a displacement of 248 ci.  Pistons at TDC .050" above block deck. Obviously not normal so suspect work carried out in Cambodia using locally available parts.  Shudder to think what has been done internally.
A couple of questions:
1.Is it possible the 283 was original?

Restoration / Custom Chevrolet Badge
« on: February 11, 2018, 10:42:52 AM »
Hi, my 67 RS Convertible was delivered via GM France to Cambodia, so a little unusual.  It is now in Australia and I'm reassembling following completion of body and paint.  I've been able to source most of what I need from suppliers in the US, however I can't find any information the "Custom Chevrolet" badge on the dash above the glove box.  It is diecast alloy and is a bit pitted, so I'd like to replace it with a new one if they are available.  Appreciate if anyone can tell be what the badge signifies and how many Camaro's would have been fitted with the badge, as well as any advice on where I may be able to get a new one.

Thanks.

Originality / '67 Interior and Engine Bay Finish.
« on: September 14, 2016, 09:18:49 AM »
Hi,

I have a 67 RS Convertible I've started restoring in Australia.  Interior code is for Black, however I'm not sure if it should be satin (matte) or gloss.

Same question for the engine bay and firewall, were they originally satin or gloss?

Appreciate any assistance.

Thanks.

Restoration / Camaro Part Suppliers
« on: September 09, 2016, 10:51:06 PM »
Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing quite a few parts for my 67 RS Convertible to complete the restoration.  I'll have to order and then have it all shipped to Australia so will not be able to see the quality prior to order.

Major suppliers appear to be Classic Industries and Rick's First Gen, but would consider others.  Appreciate any comments on the quality of parts, price, service etc.

Thanks.

Foreign Camaros / GM France 67 RS Convertible
« on: May 23, 2013, 11:07:46 AM »
Hi, recently joined the forum.  I've had a look through some of the discussions and surprised to see that a number of Camaros were sold in France.  I bought my 67 RS convertible in Cambodia a few years ago and it has a GM France sticker on one of the side windows, ELF stickers on the windscreen and the yellow driving lights behind the grille.  It is now in Australia and still unrestored and looks a bit rough as you'll see from the photograph.
I'm interested in finding out some history on the car, particularly where it was assembled and who originally purchased it.  Appreciate any advice on where I could start to track this information down.
