Well now we know what you need. If that lower reinforcement plate is missing, you should be able to take a piece of sheet metal and cut it to the size of your VIN tag, drill two holes and rivet it. You will not see that from the top of the dash. I am sure that just keeps the VIN plate from sagging on the dash. There may even be someone on the site that has the plate for you.

So what is the problem with riveting it back to the dash? Pictures help a lot if you can post them.

Hey Tim,

Welcome to the CRG!

Has the entire top of the dash been removed? If it has, was another top panel installed? The top of the dash should have a slot for the VIN to show through. Is that slot there on the driver's side?

General Discussion / Re: 1969 Camaro Z28 distributor 1111480

Question.

Why a lot of the 1969 Camaro Z28 distributors (1111480) seemed to get traded out with something else back in the day?

Because when you popped your hood. it was cool to show off to your friends the aftermarket parts, for bragging rights.

The '67 Corvette 15 X 6 four clip trim rings are the same ones used on the '69 Z/28 15 X 7 wheel.

What is the most you are going to tow with a 6 cylinder, a small sailboat? I cannot see anyone in this case, justifying paying the big bucks for the JL8 braking system, when skimping on Horsepower for towing.

OK, I read into the salesman thing the wrong way. So instead of a salesman he is just a know-it-all. I think Ed's quote sums it up.

He probably has two '68s that were rebadged as an SS.

67jeffreyt, you mentioned he sells cars, that says it all for me.

How about a picture of your kit? Hard to explain anything without pictures to go by.

General Discussion / Re: 69 Body Sag

Does your convertible have all GM springs, front and rear? I have heard many of the repro front springs are not a matched rating even though they are sold as a set.

You didn't say if your car is a S/B or B/B.

I parted a '69 B/B RS convertible back around 1980. When I removed the front springs, on top of them were GM rubber spacers. They come in two sizes 3/8" and 9/16" thick to adjust trim height. One car will use two of the same thickness. Possibly your car has them and one has fallen out or when a new spring was installed one was not reinstalled.

I will dig out the NOS spacers and take pictures if there is any interest, only if someone will post them for me.

Hydraulic shocks do not affect the ride height, they are just dampers.
