General Discussion / Re: Alternator noise
« on: June 25, 2019, 08:02:49 PM »
If you cannot spin the alternator, then the squeal you hear is the belt trying to turn an armature that is frozen and NOT turning.

Sounds like your alternator is in need of a rebuild.

So, I guess it hasn't been titled since you sold it. What color is it and what state did you sell it in? When did you sell it?

Part number 3954393 is the original part number. On February of 1972 it was superseded to 3996118. That part went discontinued on November, 2004.

There is so much wrong with that car, hard to know where to begin. Being one of the last cars produced, it doesn't have the correct drivers door for the blue VIN sticker location. Also, has straight back headrests. Car is a mishmash of parts.

General Discussion / Re: 1969 Z28 spoiler v 1970 Z28 spoiler
« on: April 21, 2019, 04:37:16 AM »
Hi Ron,

Welcome to CRG and thanks for your service to our country. It is great that you are the original owner of your car. You must have some great stories to tell.

Now getting to your spoiler question. 1969 Camaro's spoiler is taller than the one piece '70 1/2 Camaro spoiler. '69 is different than yours because of the different body styles and different aerodynamics. The D80 is the option code if you ordered spoilers. Same option code was used for many different years. Z/28 is an option code, yet a '69 Z/28 is different than the '70 1/2.

Hope I didn't confuse you and answered your question satisfactory.

Restoration / Re: 1969 rear side marker lights
« on: April 19, 2019, 02:00:55 AM »
There is no gasket under the chrome bezel. The gasket is on the sidelight side and gets pressed against the inside of quarter panel.
