General Discussion / 69 Z/28 Question
« on: March 04, 2013, 04:32:00 AM »
Hi, all I have a question ... I have a complete 302 from air cleaner to starter the build date on the front pad of the engine is VoI30DZ ......So what month of car would it most likely be for? Or does it matter at this point and stick it in any Z/28 ... Because I want a nice car  that you can drive and not just look pretty and polish .... It does have the vin stamped into the rough cast on the side... just haven't put it on the engine stand to  get the numbers ...Thanks Rob

I found another Camaro Trim tag on Ebay Item #261046419045 ,still don't know how to link to it anyways its an X33 with no paint code dash-dash .
Seems funny the guy has blank tags for sale aswell.... So you decide original or made up....

Is thefold down rear seat one of the rarer options for the 69? A buddy has a 69 Z/28 RS hugger orange , White vinyl top deluxe white houndstooth interior ,fold down rear seat  ....

General Discussion / Re: Body build date VS Body number

Paul , I read the link you posted and I understand that the next car in sequence may have not built at the same plant....  For example if we use the tag that's posted on that link 03D NOR 295460 Then if you found a car 03D NOR 338975 then wouldn't that look suspicious ? Then if you had a known tag  say 07A NOR 338952 Then you would tend to think that the car you found was a fraud... Does this make sense?  Thanks Rob

I know that was the date that the car was started ,but I am reffering to the build start date verses the body number on the trim tag ...Because if you had alot of ( Real )cars from say Norwood then you could develope a base like the Vin base . So for instance if you found a car that looked suspicous then you could cross check the body number with known cars from that build date and see if it fits ... Does this make sense?

Hi searched to see if there is any parameters for this date say 02A date and body NORxxxxxx ?  I know there is a chart for Vins in Jerry's awesome book ..  Possibly could make a data base for this info?

Ok so what I have found says you recieved the clock in the dash as part of the console gauge package correct u17 ? Also how much time from assembly date on the engine to build date of the car? (The only real way to tell is by vin on the bell housing flange) lastly for a Z/28 to be a RS as well could only be an X33? Thanks Rob

Hi , I went to Springfield swap meet yesterday and saw a pair of console gauges ... Both silver faced but what was weird to me was one of the lettering was a greenish color/tint and the other more white..... Were there date codes on these ?  Thanks Rob
