General Discussion / Re: Front Bumper Guards
« on: July 04, 2015, 05:08:40 AM »
Interesting question, do you have (or know of) a car with both options fitted? The CRG Options spreadsheet doesn't actually list VE3 against V31 in the 'not available with....' comment column, that may be an omission, or it maybe wasn't a factory mandate.
I'd imagine that no buyer originally ordering a VE3 would want to mess up the smooth appearance with those guards, so perhaps it was *possible* but highly unlikely (plus any decent salesperson would try to talk you out of it, surely?).

Great news Danny!

Thanks Hawk, a measurement would be much appreciated. I see your shackles are also stamped 'S' on the outer surface.

Congratulations Pat, and nice work Steve! This kind of story should give us all hope that our car's docs may turn up one day.

Also when using evaporust on long items, you can get a 'tide' mark where the overlap line of the part into the liquid occurs. I remember Chick used a length of plastic pipe with end caps to soak his driveshaft in.

I know some guys who have used RPM or Boeshield on their leaf springs, looks great once dry (IMO) but not used it yet myself.

Hmmm wonder what this'll go for?

I've seen single VE3 load rest hooks sell for over $1k in very nice condition, so will be watching this closely.....
Mechanism rivet is dated 9F, so it's likely from a NOR car, and too late for mine anyway; probably a good thing, would certainly interfere with the truest mantra of all (happy wife, happy life) if I bid on it...... :)

Thoughts are with you Danny, keep positive. You have a great girl by your side and all your Camaro buddies supporting you.

Photos of the intake. If the general feeling is that it's an original, how much do the t-stat housing bolt thread repairs hurt value?

Yes, the description is the only funny thing about it.
They made some pretty big changes to the trunk lid opening in the quarters:

I will do that Chick, would be good to get a review of it's originality, or otherwise.
I agree that it'd be an expensive undertaking, but the 2 links I posted earlier (Ricks Camaro) show that it has been done for other relatively low-production intakes, the 68 Z/28 and 68-69 L78. Maybe not likely to have been any legal issues in copying the originals, especially as those current repros also have the snowflake.
Who knows? Hopefully mine checks out OK. Pictures to follow in a couple of days.
