General Discussion / Re: Poor quality reproduction crap....
« on: July 29, 2012, 10:50:30 AM »
i agree.   seems like 10 years ago Ricks always had everthing and would give you the choice on repop parts such as ... NOS, show quality or standard reproduction.
It was your choice.       Now they have been bought out and the company well..... :P not so good in my opinion.   My personal car has next to NO repop parts.
I see cars at shows that look like an import version of a 69 camaro due to the quality of the parts they used on the resto.     More times than not they never fit right and alot of times wont even work !    I'll pay 4X the price for nos but at least I know my car is right.     Just venting...  my opinion.     Steve

« on: April 20, 2012, 11:33:02 PM »
Hey guys.
I bought a 2 owner 69 Z/28 a couple months ago from a guy in long island NY.  He purchaced the car as a theft recovery with 3,000-4,000 miles on it.
it was stolen in mid to late 1971and was sold new at village chevrolet in queens.  He said they got the intake, carb, ignition, trans and front seats.   Maybe someone here knows the car??     Base Z/28 cortez silver.
Factory cowl hood, std black interior, no console, tach only.  am/fm and spoilers.       thanks !   Steve

Decoding/Numbers / 69 Z/28 firewall crayon marks
« on: April 08, 2012, 07:34:43 PM »
Hey guys.

I just purchaced  25,000 mile two owner Z28 a few weeks ago.  The second owner managed to slowly pull it apart over the last 35 years to make it a
"world of wheels car".     I stripped the firewall of its gloss IMRON paint last week and found 3 places where the original crayon marks were.
I'm not sure if the original marks were under the black firewall paint or on the top but they are noticeable on the bare firewall now.   One directly behind the distributor says " OK" .    to the right of that  ( passenger side ) it has   " N10 "  and i found out thats dual exhaust.    and a little farther to the right is  " D80".
   Spoilers..      Pretty cool .     Steve

We will All miss him.   Makes me sad.   He had the coolest/fastest cars.   4 or 5 years ago I saw his ex pro stock vega at sema. Fell in love with it.  The things he did were amazing.
     Miss you GRUMPY !!!
