Fahad, could you take some more close up or detailed pictures of the dash and the VIN (serial) number?

Unfortunately the VIN (serial) number is removed with the original dash, but I got it from the vehicle registration paper.
That being the case, remove the cowl panel (panel between windshield and hood) and there should be a hidden Partial VIN almost in the top center of the cowl. Give us a full report.

looking for opinions would I be better off to leave the motor the way it is, or to try and find original parts and rebuild the motor?
my plan/dream is to completely clean up the whole car..  .  the motor has had oil in it the whole time, and it has the muncie 4 speed trans. i believe it has the original block in the car. any suggestions on where to get reasonably priced replica tires?

Always sorry to here about a loss from cancer. It is truly tragic. I am sure you and your dad had many things planned together.
Two questions: You are asking whether to leave the engine the way it is or go original? It is YOUR car now, make it the way YOU want it. Did your dad put the aftermarket parts on the car? If so, I would consider leaving it the way it is as a "nostalgic tribute" to your dad.
2nd: You say you believe the car has the original block. If that is so or your not sure, why don't you get the numbers off the front pad and let us guys tell you what you got? That is what we do best, here!
A side note. It may be the case that you are not a mechanic or are not confident and do not know how to proceed. How do you rate your mechanical skills 1-10. One being totally inept, not knowing what a wrench is or how to hold one. lol. 10 being a mechanical whiz kid. Oh, and thanks for joining the site. We are a great group and although we can't replace your dad, we will try and partly fill that void your dad left in helping you... with the car anyway. Looks like you are in Michigan, what part? Oh, and vintage tires will be the least of your worries for awhile and I see many refer to the "leather seats"in their Camaro. That is American leather, my son, so just refer to it as VINYL from here on out. I already have my wrenches out and can't wait to be side by side helping you. Take care.

Yep, Rich, Yenko all-right. #9 made, Daytona Yellow, 4 speed. Sold by Hult Chev. Madison, Wisconsin. Looks like that was a good education investment using your student loan, that is.

You may want to get on this site as well Rich and post: http://www.yenko.net/ubbthreads/ubbthreads.php/topics/72581/1969_YENKO_CAMARO_VIN_LIST#Post72581

Oh, congrats on figuring out the pic thing! I remember my own breakthrough moment of posting pics, really makes it easier for others to see, literally, what you are trying to describe.
Sorry I said 9th made-I meant 9th Daytona Yellow Yenko Made

Originality / Re: 69 tilt column research looking for original info
« on: March 20, 2014, 11:23:06 PM »
As I stated earlier,a little stupidity will go a long way. I am now afraid to go look at the supposedly "original" tilt wheel I bought and installed in the early 80s. I will blame this on Al Gore for not " inventing "the Internet earlier. Yes that's it,that's why I screwed up an original 1969 Lemans Blue X-55 SS 350 by turning it into a White Z 28/RS. There was no Internet ! Now you guys make me feel like a real idiot. Thanks to this site and all you guys for putting me on the right path to a correct restoration of my Camaro! Good luck to all on your projects!
I don't care what you say, I still like you and your car...just don't mention that A*****e, Al Gore on the site again.lol.

I'll just make sure my tail panel is not Gloss! lol.

I don't understand your comment about the tail panel, could you explain. George

George, That was my attempt to rely on my memory (not reliable) and add some humor (just confused many) and I apologize. I was referencing some long debated topic of whether the SS tailpanel is gloss or semi-gloss and I thought you were adamant in the "gloss" camp. I am in the "semi gloss" group. Anyway back to the serious part, the felts. I would appreciate much if you could find out more information regarding manufacturer and if you have more pics comparing detail with GM, that would be great too. Your attention to detail and fact finding make your opinions very valued and thank you for the research and leg work you already performed to make my decisions easier in my resto.

Reviving an old thread as I found some real good information that I know it is in the AIM, but this is a bit more concise and shows some good information, so I thought I should share:        Hope this helps. Sorry, this is borrowed from another site and not intending to not give credit to original researcher, Ian Johnson. http://www.worldwidecamaroclub.com/pdf/tech/reverselockouts.pdf

Do those heads have a machined pocket on the intake side or I'll re-phrase, should they? Do 462 and 291 heads (2.02) have machined area around intake valve? My only experience with 2.02s are 186 and 492(over the counter) heads I have had and they are machined. Usually a good way to tell if that is the valve that came in head opposed to being modified.

Thanks, Bryon/Gary I may try this. Shaft has surface rust and I thought it was too far gone as far as ever finding paint, but worth a try, I guess. I do believe the original U joints are still in the shaft though. They have a dimple aprox.1/2 in, diam on each side with a letter in the bottom...kinda hard to see at this point. There are clips on the ends like snap rings.

Thanks, George. I read where there are some felts available, that are "show" quality and even have the rubber flap on the rear. I am very concerned about getting something I will not be happy with. Sounds like yours would be acceptable without giving a fortune, which I don't have right now. That is kind of what I was hoping to get as far as feedback. I remember reading your refrenced post now. If you feel they are ok, then that is good enough for me. I'll just make sure my tail panel is not Gloss! lol.
