Maybe I was misinformed, so are you guys suggesting that there is no casting stamp on a 1969 z28 axle shaft ?  ( I was under the assumation that they were stamped "YH" )
I think you are referring to the wheel used on 69 Zs (late) http://camaros.org/suspen.shtml#Wheels which are stamped YH, not the axle. I'll go further and say (until refuted) that all 12 bolt axle shafts in production 1st gen. Camaros  (excepting perhaps JL8) are the same as far as temper/hardness and quality and interchangeability and there is not a "special" axle shaft in a Z. The 68-72 12 bolt Nova shares same shaft. There are posts regarding 12 bolts that explain better that not all 12 bolts, I.E. BE coded, and some service and low ratio R&Ps have differences in hardness. Never had any of that cool stuff, so will not comment further. Hope this helps. We are all learning.

6-cylinder Camaros / Re: Hello to All
« on: May 10, 2014, 05:46:21 PM »
Also yes i have all paperwork, invoice, protecta plate, mother in law is a horder  ;D. Funny story is my mother in law thought this whole time she had the <upgraded 6 cylinder> and I informed her it was the base 230. She stated NO I told the salesman I wanted a manual and V8 but the extra cost was almost 3 weeks of her pay. Cashier at A&P  ::). Salesman showed her 2 6 cylinder cars and she stated I want the upgraded 6 cylinder. Guess what, the dealer just put the 250 air cleaner on the 230 car and sold it to her. They wrote upgraded engine on invoice :o.

Probably only applied the 250 sticker over the 230... :)    Just another example of why you believe NOTHING a salesman tells you, and to VERIFY everything....  :)
I was thinking about this very thing, sales/dealer doing whatever to sell a car and thought I would make this a post topic. We know what should have come on our cars, but a lot of possible hocus pocus on the dealer level to make a sale.

Just a little advice, don't be too persistent. Take a breather and get back occassionally. They are there to sell new cars and may see you as an agravation and just decide not to do you any favors, so I would not push the issue too much and ruffle some feathers. Stay with one contact person. You may offer an incentive as Vince suggests, but patience is the game at this point. Don't expect them to have the same enthusiasm or devote the time you would expect.

General Discussion / Re: Stripe delete
« on: May 09, 2014, 05:02:48 PM »
I think your reply should be directed to cook dw as that is the quote and your responses except for my tag. I can assure you there are no other colors under the paint and it has one respray of the same color that are in the hidden areas and I always thought it was LeMans blue, but could never be sure because of the tag. It could have been a stripe delete and added when resprayed. Don't know for sure. Only some areas were resprayed and most of the original paint is visible. I got rid of the original fenders years ago (mistake) as I bought NOS back in the day to replace them. Always been a puzzler to me. The paint you see in the pic on tag and top of cowl are GM original. Not sure where you see two colors, must be the lighting. lower part of tag is the black that came on tag. Car has not been messed with at least no accident or modifyed except for my tunnel ram which car still has the original components, intake was for pic only and I never ran it on the car. Owned since 79. You can see the silver XT rim behind my Centerline. Car also had P06 trim rings with dog dish caps. If money holds out after Big Block car is done, this will be next. It is very original.

I would like to know how many cars in the three years are out there with RS and a 6 cyl? That has to be a contradiction as an upgrade option (RS) was put on an otherwise sparse, basic car...I am with DW(cook dw) on this car would make a great DD if rust issues are addressed.

What is a 'YH' axle shaft????
Thanks for asking...I was too embarrassed?

Is that the original paint? original color? I never cared for dented stuff, but can live with bad paint or little rust. I'd be tempted to fix some of the bruises and dings, and start driving it! You would be surprised how many would be all over it at a show. My Yellow car is rough and everyone flocks to it as if it where a new egyptian tomb find that has just been unearthed. Times have changed and ratty original pieces seem to garner respect at shows just because no one has laid hands on it and messed...oops "restored"(most mis-used word in the hobby) it.

One update per week is not 'bugging'..  it's staying abreast..  :)
Yep, agree. I guess if there was something to report, he would have let me know. He could have sold it for all I know. Its probably in an Arab country right now, lol. No, I know its in good hands and when I hear something, you can bet I will keep you all informed. Will have been gone a month this Sunday the 11th

Too many doors on that 55 (sic 56)....

Actually 4 doors are pretty neat; they are quieter, don't rattle so much, are more rigid, and actually have a back seat one can use (actually 3 can use).. :)  you can actually carry your family to the car show and be comfortable..  so that is NEAT too.. especially when the car is as neat as a 'classic '55-'57 chevy.. :)

Probably more than one family started in those back seats too...if you know what I mean?

Nope. No news on the progress yet. Promissed myself that I would not "bug" the guy, so I have kept my word so far. Thanks for asking though.
