31  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Original Black Primer Underside of Body 69 Z/28's on: June 23, 2014, 09:29:36 AM
There's a good thread on this but I can't find the link I thought I saved. I think this is Gary's car. Mine was similar. Had grey in tunnel and foot board areas. I believe black was over the grey. I used sikkens rally black over ppg epoxy primer on my car. Sikkens is pricey but excellent product.

Scares me with wet abrasive getting in places and not drying out. Anyone used it?

That ladies family will end up dealing with a car that's a mess.
I am curious what's living in the vette! I don't remember the body being junk. I don't remember a top. I might look into it. I have no idea what it's worth either

My brother in law figured I did when I was there. Place has a lot junk stuff around. Some kind of 50s looking pickup with no bed. Couldn't tell exactly, grass too high! It might be more project than I need!

I was on the local volunteer fire dept years ago and a barn fire happened and a 66 Corvette convertible was pushed out and saved from damage. Eventually the owner moved it to another guys where it was along a state road and everyone stopped to look. It wasn't for sale. It was blue, big block, 4 speed,  Drivetrain gone. I can't remember how much interior was in it. Might have been 6-8 years ago.  I now farm behind where the barn was and last 3 years its been parked there.  Here's a sad site in head high weeds.
41  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Fake or real DZ stamp and partial Vin ? on: June 17, 2014, 11:14:29 AM
I am curious, in real stamp pic,  aren't broach marks going wrong direction? Someone did do a nice job making the restamp block have nice machine marks. Are there shops using surfacing machines that leave this pattern or was it done by hand?

I counted my driven gear again carefully and its a 7 tooth. I would say it appears to be white

I should have added, got tired of engine screaming so the 4:10s are back in. What was interesting, the 4:88 gears were gym and dated end of 68, looked like the correct date for my car anyway
