General Discussion / Re: Mecum z28

Very cool projects guys. I have a dart 383 ready for a body. Ohio stuff is too rusty. Thought about putting it in my z but it needs to go in something else. Since I got the GTX I can baby the z and abuse the hemi! It likes abuse, in real how it pulls.
Couple years ago a guy had a Florida 56 for sale he got from a storage unit sale. Great body no motor. And no title. Kinda scared me off.
Janobyte where are you located?

Interesting that the majority are people that saw these new or slightly used. I am 47 and didn't really see many when I was in high school. New cars I saw were 1984ish. I had a new trans am with the 180 hp or so 305! Horrible motor. I would never want another. New cars now have the performance but don't hold their value and I could hardly get out of the ZL 1 I sat in lol. It was hard to see out of. It will be a few years before young people drop 50,000 on a newer muscle car. New or old they cost too much.

Worked on book keeping today. Brutal out. Tomorrow night sounds worse. Going to watch OSU play ball too. You wait in line for buses to haul you to the parking lot. Should be a lot of fun!

It was a Saturday car. Was 27,000. Barrett Jackson had some cars checked out last year. I am not sure if it went well enough they will do it this year. I am headed to kissimmee in January. Fun to look stuff over. I did read on another site there's a 69 L89 car that has bad documents. They had 69 last year with the same problem and I think it had a restamped block. Might be better off with a restomod or a new z28! If anyone here is going to kissimmee I found a nice, clean place to stay 5 minutes from the auction. Drop me a pm and I get you the info.

Just had to vent. TV announcers said a real z28 up next on Saturday afternoon. Of course it's black. They said again a real z28 but now has a 350. Also had non power brakes and big block heater box!

Restoration / dash pad
« on: December 07, 2013, 10:35:59 PM »
I am not real crazy about my dash pad. It appears pretty wavey along the bottom side in front of the passenger seat. The side along windshield has seperated in a couple places. The warpage is my biggest concern. I would like to keep a gm dash pad in it but are most going to have this problem? Is it heat/sun related or can this happen with nos ones? My car may have sat out in its life.

Originality / Re: Fuel Pump Stampings

The 140 cam was put in mine about 71 and they must have changed the fuel pump. Mine is now a 234k42080. The crank was balanced and bearings were dated fall 71

I have been watching  for one for my z. Hbc had rebuilt ones back ordered but they didn't seem to get any. Anyone have a pile of them and I thought Arthur Gould could rebuild them?

Mild Modifications / Re: Exhaust 69 camaro
« on: October 27, 2013, 01:21:03 PM »
My z had hooker headers on it and exhaust was gone. I am close to Jegs and for about 220 picked up a headers back kit with 2 mufflers. Sounded great and easy to install. All precut. You can search you tube and find where guys recorded exhaust

Restoration / Re: Sand blasting... Chassis

If you want to recoat it, look into por-15 or KBS topcoats. Metal doesn't have to be rust free but I would take scale off.

I don't think your supposed to sand epoxy primer and there is a time limit when topcoat needs to be applied for the chemical bond to take place. If you are past that time it might need a light scuffing. Just what I have been told and practiced

The ones I heard fit nice, an ebayer Reesmooth has.3300 and needs gaskets and linkages. Throttle cable. Would be fun to play with and what eye appeal.
