Originality / 12 bolt cover
« on: March 26, 2013, 01:12:56 PM »
I have noticed some covers have a notch out of one side. Even seen them called nos. My original doesn't have the notch. Where did the notched ones come from? Are the repops accurate?

My car had 2 colors of primer. Lighter gray in front foot area and the top of the tunnel. I did a lot of looking for paint and used sikkens rally black. Turned out gorgeous. I wanted a paint that would use hardener and a good sheen. Its a little pricey but very pleased

If you went to that much trouble don't paint them. Get some rust prevention magic and use it in bare steel

When i got my springs i called hbc on their yf springs. They don't sell the exact  springs anymore. They sold me the small block springs. My car sat like the engine was out. Spring waS like 3 inches longthemer. pozzi racing has a Web site where he tested alot of moog springs and i got a set to match the z. Very happy with them. His site had alot of good info

Does anyone know how the bolts that hold the s shaped steering arm to the spindle and the short fat  bolt that holds the backing plate to the spindle should be finished? Saw a picture that has me doubting what I did
Thank you

Restoration / Re: Body filler questions

I was always told not to wait to top coat epoxy primer too long or you lose the chemical bond. If i needed to fill pits, i would use filler on bare metal than epoxy prime.  Lately i found a product great for pits. Its called icing and comes in a tube. Nice to use product

Working on my 69 Z. Were the control arms painted and then the  ball  joints   riveted in place?

Charley I used your pictures to figure out the mecum 70 had new front sheet metal. Pretty car but looked like it had hit something. Thanks for all the pictures you have

Tough date to find. I have seen that and the guy doesn't have any feedback

Been watching ebay for the correct date code for my z.  Today one appears that i haven't seen before, date of 0921. Stamp looks fat but never seen one with the 0 before the   9.   never seen a 21 either. Something fishy?
