I never figured I would see this but a california built 69 Z in hugger orange with green interior! Not good. When I get home I will try and post couple pics. Saw the tag too. How odd is this

I have bought several parts and occasionally you get something not as correct as expected but had worsen problems with ricks. I did get a set of cool springs from hbc that they said were small blocks and would work for my z. The car sat so high that it looked like the engine was out. They said they didn't know z's sat lower than other small blocks. They did refund my money. My experience with ricks was bad. I ordered a distributer cap that was a supposed to match original and it was grey! The heater core was junk and damaged. HBC does sell a nice heavy core

Originality / z28 with white stripes, cowl pics on early 69 cars

I am getting ready to get my car painted. Someone took a brush and painted the firewall, inner fenders, radiator shround (you get the idea) black.  I do not have a way to tell how far down the white that was sprayed under the cowl went. Right now it appears they raised where the black went up to the white on the cowl. I wonder if there could be burgandy between the white and black. I tried to wet sand and not much luck.  Here is a picture and would like to see others to compare how to finish mine. Leaving it white would look cleaner but I am thinking there could be some burgandy in there too. From the picture there couldnt be much burgandy if any. Thanks guys

The bolt on my 03D car is like top one, t and anchor,  I have it marked as the one with the clip at the tank.  The frame bolts are blunt with a notch out on the bottom. The head marking on them looks like a circle with ER inside. Little hard to read without glasses

My 69 Z did that and it had moved on the sleeve. They can be rebuilt or exchanged

I blued mine also along with arm that goes to frame. On mine the arm was clean enough you could see the dark finish. There was a nos one on eBay showing the color also.very easy to do and cheap!

Restoration / sway bar bushings 69 Z
« on: May 18, 2013, 03:13:42 PM »
I got 2 different sets of sway bar bushings from hbc and don't like either. My 03D has the fingered bracket. First I got the hole acts like at least 23/32 and I will have to trim since its too tall. The other is for the earlier bracket and not close. I am hoping to find something closer than these. Who knows these could be Moogs not sure. Anyone find any they liked?

Restoration / Re: Correct 69 Z/28 Coil Springs
« on: May 12, 2013, 04:27:45 PM »
I had a set of small block springs from HBC and the car sat almost as high as it does with the motor out. I looked up david pozzi's site and it has alot of good info with moog part numbers.  If your doing a z, they sat lower than a small block car.

My car has 12800 on it but drag racer/first owner messed with somethings. I have found neat inspection marks . This week I had the rear axle cover off and it had a lot of blue paint markings. Springs were a greenish yellow. I think a lot of my bolts are original but some hard to read. I have wondered if my car was stored someplace damp and if the guy was on stone roads. He's around but I have only talked to his son and he doesn't have a lot of info.

Poly bushings have been known to squeak. Would be a lot of work to change them out.
I agree on paint, matching numbers should be the correct color. I wouldn't buy a car in a color I didn't like matching numbers or not anyway
