Looks great Lloyd. I think your conclusion is right on the money.

"Generally" if you have the spacers under the intake you'll be able to use the intake, but not the distributor unless it has an adjustable collar. You won't be able to use the alternator brackets unless you modify them. Exhaust manifolds depend on what they are and what the engine is. You should be good to go to use the heads if they're worth using. The push rods will be different though.
If it were me and I spent the money on a 427 short block, I'd spend the money on heads too. 427s aren't cheap or easy to find anymore. Chances are your heads are truck heads and not worth your time in swapping over. You'd have to run their numbers to see.

I just walked out and looked closely at mine and gave it a quick wipe down. In my 69's case it's black phosphate without question.

I'm not sure if it will help, but this is a shot of my striker. Obviously the finishes are tough to see, but it's never been touched. It looks to me like the adjuster shaft is the same as the base, not natural steel originally.

"Chirping 2nd gear." That's cute. ;-) If you aren't smoldering third you need a new power plant lol. Even with 3.31s I couldn't think about going full bore in 2nd. Just busting your chops Gary...

No problem Dave... :)    As I said, it's a factory original stock '72 BASE 350 that I rebuilt (30 over) about 15 yrs ago..  For what it is, I'm pleased with how it runs... :)    (factory rating was 200 bhp).. :)

PS.  What you really need is to get some of that Big Fat Block weight over the drive wheels!!  :)

You are absolutely right!

Absolutely love the look of your L78 Driveway_finds.

Pad surface: I would spray it with Simple Green or something similar and give it a toothbrush brush scrub possibly. Then lay a towel soaked with Evaporust or high concentrate vinegar if you really want to clean it.
Pop: If it's not a repop, I wouldn't touch it.

The forum is an important part of CRG, but only a small part of the whole CRG thing.  Thousands of hours were spent on collecting and organizing the information, writing reports and then putting it on the main page with links.

Other Camaro sites have most of their information buried in their forums. That's not so here. I wish more people realized that.
I couldn't agree more!

Everyone should start at the main page if they have questions, then click on sections of interest. Lots and lots of stuff to go through.
I can't disagree that people "should" do that, but sometimes people find a web page like CRG by searching for a specific answer. That will likely put them on the forum first. That becomes your short cut and where you go to search. Not bitching, just an observation from my point of view.

Thank you, gentlemen. I failed to use the search function here effectively. But is the length of 49.56" from center line of the U-Joints?

paul
Some of those reports are a little more difficult to find than just using the search function. Yes, the measurement is center to center of the u joints.

Top of the main page.  http://www.camaros.org/

Click on the CRG Reports button.

People who do not use the links on the main page are missing a lot. We did a lot of work to organize stuff.
I love what you guys have put there, it's just hard to find if you don't know it's there.

General Discussion / Re: Pony Car/Musclecar market going away?
« on: November 01, 2019, 12:13:21 PM »
Believe none of what you hear and 1/2 of what you see/read. This subject can get political very quickly, but I'll avoid some of those comments. I know a bunch of kids, my two sons included, that absolutely love muscle cars. My oldest is studying Mech Engineering at Univ of Mich. Wicked smaht kid. What did I do with him for his first car? Helped him pull the engine out of a 2000 Mustang and build it. That was huge for the both of us. I'll do the same for my 8 yo when the time comes also. I think the biggest issue is the money. You can't touch a decent 69 Camaro etc. for less than $25k or more. What teenager can swing that? Teenage years are where it begins. If you can't get them out of their mother's basement and away from the technology that's rotting their brains we're going to have a lot more problems than we do now. You have a generation that actually would consider and is supporting socialism whole heartedly. I blame the late baby boomers and the next generation after them 100%. They've poisoned our youth. It starts with the parents. They are completely to blame for what is going on. All the way up to your Columbine HS, Sandy Hook Elementary, Aurora Colorado movie theater and all the rest of the shootings. The parent generation should be ashamed of themselves. It's like they hate Americana and are doing everything they can to destroy it. The attack on muscle cars isn't anything new. The libs hate the internal combustion engine and would love nothing more than to see them all go to the crusher. Remember the federal buy back? What was it that Gore spear headed? I think it was $300 a piece for any crushed car. So many boneyards cleared out all the old iron when that happened. Empty boneyards and Greenleaf coming in buying up all the yards and charging 50% of retail for used parts ruined it for many of us.
All of this is very frustrating for those of us that grew up in car culture. It wasn't just a dollar sign like it is now for so many. Buy, mod, flip. Repeat. Until they're all gone.
It's up to us to keep the interest there and teach the youngins what it is that is so addictive about muscle cars.
