General Discussion / Re: 1968 CamaroZ/28 Paint Code KK
« on: September 01, 2015, 05:14:37 PM »
Kurt, I would have liked to have had it back , but didn't know that was an option. You know young and dumb. I assumed it was sold  by the insurance company. I bought a 69 z-28 rally sport orange w/ black stripes , but it never seemed to run as good as the 68 z. As a side note my 68 came with 302 emblems on the fenders and had the flat hood. Will try to scan the POP this evening. My son is a cop and I have run the VIN several times with no result.

I owned a Camaro Z28 exactly  like this one  in 1968 , no spoiler on the rear though. Owned about 10 months, came out of my apt one morning and it was gone. Notified the police and waited , about 4 days later the police called, said they had my car at the impound lot. Went to the lot, the Z had be stripped, no engine and trans, what a sick feeling, was like a viewing at a funeral home. I drag raced it all summer in 68, turned 13.2 @ 108 w/ headers and a pair of cheap slicks, I think someone saw it there and  snatched it. Have some photos, time cards and the POP. Having your car stolen is a horrible experience, I sure others have been in the fix.

Just spotted this on Yahoo, not that I go to Yahoo for auto info, but never the less pretty good. Alex Lloyd drives a 69 Z at the pro/am race.

The rear shock is dated 8 68 Koni p/n 80E 1953 front shock dated 8 67 p/n 80a-1914 , these are the standard road shocks. The Penske team probably used the double adjustable shocks.

Here are shocks ordered off the H.D. parts list. Suprise Koni shocks in GM parts boxes.

WEB sold a Camaro Chassis Preparation  and Clearances and Specifications for 302 cu.in. v-8 Chevrolet Engines in the early 70's,they were based in Grand Paririe, Texas. The chassis manual covered subframe and body prep, roll cage install, front and rear suspension, spring and sway bar rates, shocks and bump stops, and brakes just to name a few. also included was G.M. part # for steering componets, springs, sway bars, brakes, etc, it was very well put together and undoubly straight from Chevrolet.I think I have seen this mentioned on other Camaro websites. Has anyone else seen this info?
