826  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Big Block Open Element Air Cleaner on: July 26, 2013, 12:16:06 PM
Curious if anyone has or can post up photos of an original air cleaner lid, hose to the crankcase vent and flame arrestor.  Photos of the top side and underside of the lid & base if possible.  Thanks, Darrell
827  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / I know its not a Camaro but.... on: July 25, 2013, 06:31:59 PM
This is what I was working on today..  Setting the valves and adjusting the carb.  Original owner (my uncle) car, early 90s restoration.  My father actually rebuilt the engine back then and I am the only other person to work on the car besides my father and uncle.  Super clean and well documented car.  Interesting story behind the car; he traded in a Marina Blue 67 SS Chevelle and had originally ordered a Fathom Green 69 SS Chevelle but the dealer got in this Garnet Red car from another dealer and he had them add power steering at the dealer and took it home.  Car has also been in Chuck Hanson's ACES magazine as well.  Just thought I would share.

According to the 68 factory assembly manual UPC 12 A8 - main shot shows the upper horn (low) & then the view B is the lower horn (high ).  Also the photo I showed of the standard headlight is an original unrestored car.

Are '68 horns mounted the same as '67? If so I can send pics from a '67 RS/SS survivor.

Mike

67 & 8 used the same horns for RS as far as I know.

Those will work just not forged which isnt a huge deal if this is strictly a restoration.  Also look at Icon Performance Pistons (summitracing.com).  Also if you call JE, SRP or Wiseco pistons they can custom build you a set if needed.  Hope that helps.

Definitely an odd combo..  Makes you wonder if LSD was involved in the ordering process..  Lol
835  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: Huggar Orange touch up paint on: July 12, 2013, 07:07:21 AM
That's actually a more complex question than you may realize.  First off, is this a repainted car?  If so, was base clear used?  If repainted what paint code was used?  More than likely there will be a shade or two difference when touching up.  If it were me, I would go to my local paint supplier with the hugger orange paint code & tell them you need a small amount for touch up purposes.  But again the uncertainty of the paint on the car now could play a role on how well it matches.

I definitely see the similarities but I also see that the merging of the colllectors are different in lengths.  Not sure if that could have been a manufacturing change or what but they are very similar.

These are at least 1975 as far as age.  Rust is the color on these.  lol  Like I said Ill get pics of them tomorrow.  Im thinking they are BlackJacks..  Are there any identifying numbers or locations for stampings that I could look for?  Any chance you have any catalogs from them Jon?
