Have you checked your rear axle pinion angle? It needs to be the same angle as the engine and tranny.

I have always set my pinion angle at a -2 degrees with full suspension load.  This is to compensate for the rapping of the different underload.

A problem I had back several years ago on my 69 when I installed a new clutch and had the flywheel resurfaced.  Once installed I had a vibration in the shifter above 3k and got worse the higher the rpm to the point it would shake the whole car.  Swapped out for another clutch and same thing.  Pulled it out again and swapped flywheels and vibration gone.  Moral of the story is make sure the flywheel & clutch assembly is balanced.

Granted this is on a 68 but should have been the same process I would think..  I do not know why someone painted over the cowl with black but you can see what is underneath.

Another comparison here is the outlet off my fathers car.  Notice that the #'s are not perfectly in line like the service replacements.  Too hard to tell on the orange one in previous post.

My understanding is that the part with the casting number in the neck is a service replacement. The one on the flange is the production line part. I have read this somewhere but what I read could had been incorrect. Maybe someone else will chime in.

Here are some pics I have found for comparison.  Notice that the location of the casting # is in a slightly different location and the service replacement looks too crisp compared to the others..

Casting on the base on top and service replacement bottom.

Guessing that this is another service replacement.  Also notice the little bump in the casting of the neck portion versus the orange painted one below

Guessing that is one is a production outlet. No casting bump on neck above #.

I could be completely wrong on this but I am hoping others will chime in with what is on their original cars..

Does anyone know when the cut off was for the number being cast into the neck portion and the base?  Or was this a result of different manufacturers?

Can anyone tell me if the muncie  speedo cable firewall piercings the same in 69 camaro as in 67? if not is there a picture showing 69 firewall. Terry

Its the same.  Like the pic above only difference is the back-up light switch hole.

Nice car and very neat history on the car as well.
835  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1967 Camaro SS Hood/ Underhood Lamp on: June 13, 2013, 05:06:56 PM
Welcome Jerry, 67 under hood lamps are different than 68 & 69 . They only have one mounting screw and are mounted turned around as you can see in the pic.  Small block on the left side and big block on the right. The 67's are tuff to find so you may have to use the later ones

Is this the same for all three years?  And is the left and right from the drivers seat or from the front of the car looking at the firewall?  Assuming looking from the drivers seat..

Edit:  nevermind I misread your post Ed.
837  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: Original Tire options on: May 30, 2013, 05:04:53 PM
Darrell, can you also post a close up picture of the date stamp on the jack rivet? It appears to be 0L which would be November of 1970!

Ed

Ed, you would be correct it is OL..  Honestly I had never thought to look at the date of the jack but for whatever reason my father must have changed or swapped it out for whatever reason.  He is no longer around so I can not ask him.  Thanks for pointing it out though.  Now I know.
