General Discussion / Anyone in or from the Austin, Texas area?
« on: December 08, 2011, 03:19:51 AM »
I am looking for a dealership that would have been in the 1968-75 range by the name Armstrong-Johnson.  This was the last known area that my car was before making the trip east to TN and I want to try and track it down to see what info I can dig up.  I have called the Texas DMV with my vin and nothing came back in their records.  Thanks for any help in advance..  Darrell

Decoding/Numbers / Question about the hidden vins vs vin tag
« on: December 03, 2011, 10:38:11 AM »
I thought it was kinda odd that the hidden vin would be off one number vs the vin tag.  Assuming this is possible and chauking it up to human error but wanted to get some of the experts opinions.

This hidden vin is very hard to read but it too is 320496

Thanks guys.  Its a 12D LA car.  Its actually kind of an odd car. It has the cp, matador red  with deluxe interior & no console. The farthest I can trace the car back to is 1975 in Austin Texas.  It has an Armstrong/Johnson dealer emblem on the tail panel which Ive traced and it was a Ford dealer back in the day.  Sadly they didnt have any records that far back.  DMV in Texas was no help either.

Ive always known it was a 302 car but after removing the spoiler I felt even better it.  I know its not the greatest but you can see the curve of the stripe where the "C" would be.

Then of course sanding the spray bombed cowl area and finding it to be white with red underneath.

Hello and that I have been lurking on this site for a long time but just recently registered.  Great bunch of knowledge here and I truly enjoy reading and seeing all the Camaro knowledge.  Love to learn new and interesting tid bits on these wonderful cars.  My father actually got me addicted to Camaros being an enthusiast himself up until his passing back in 2006.  I have a few myself..

My first car I ever owned and still own.  Bought it way back in 1989 when I was 12 yrs old..  1969 plain jane 307 powerglide.

1967.  Its a true ss/rs but other than that nothing original..  Still in the process of finishing it.

My 1997 SS 30th Anniversary vert Camaro.  One of roughly 120 build with the auto.

Lastly my prized camaro 68 302.  This car has been down since the early 80s and I have known the previous owner since I was a child.  Ignore the R/S lower panel.

Also here is a video of my father waaay back in 1996 when he was on Motor Trend Musclecar Archives.  Anyways great to be here and never to old to learn something new.
