Mike that looks really good..  Did your tag have white on it originally?  I'm referring to the white that was used to brighten the tag for line workers..  Also what black are you using on the firewall?

Have you tried flipping the tape paper over so that you taped edge is on the bottom and have the paper fold over the taped edge?  Ignore my poor drawing..  I didn't feel like going into great detail with AutoCAD.

Was the paint fade that way originally?  Meaning was the line that far down the firewall?

All else fails & I'm sure some would be opposed to this idea but what about heating the bracket, tweaking it to work then repainting?  Personally I would just make it fit..  Once installed you will not be to see much of it anyways..  Just a thought.

Also after my car is reassembled, I will have a ton of stuff that I can finally sell. (I have no idea why I have an NOS pair 68 inner fender wells that don't even fit a 69).

Thanks - Andy

I might have a set of 69 good take offs if you would be interested in trading.  Also I didn't use dynamat but you can see what I used and how well it worked here..

This is what I used and it cost roughly $100 to do the entire car.

Great car!!  Does it still have the original trunk lid?  If so can you post in this thread?

Also previously all lids were punched with the standard non spoiler holes by the supplier (I assuming this due to photos & lids I've seen) and when these other changes happened I would bet these were done away with & left up to the plants to punch.  Again assumption..

Trans Am.  When they came out the lids had to be changed due to the spoiler; the inner layer of the lid needed 4 additional holes to be able to drill through the outer layer.  At that same time the tabs close to the lip of the lid were eliminated.

Thanks, Darell. I'm glad you have been following the '69 trunk lids. Maybe this hole drilling change occurred at the same time the D80 appeared on the cowl tag?

Very well could be.. I went back through this morning and looked at my data again and I missed an 03E car that doesn't have both sets of holes..  I need a better pic of JohnZ's lid to very my theory but I'm thinking it has more to do with the introduction of the T/A lid..  Its also hard to verify due to not knowing some of the ones I have whether or not they were original spoiler cars/lids..

I just feel like this thread and the others before it have run their course and neither side will agree aside from disagreeing..  Its one car and its he said; he said..  Unless someone here wants to buy the car then this thread and others like it need to be locked down..  My $0.02 and I wont make another post in it..  Steve you crack me up..  .  Austin this horse has been tenderized..

From my database of trunk lids it appears around April - May the cars that had spoilers did not have both sets of holes..  I can not say for certain that the nuts are correct or original..  Excellent observation Mr. Mello!!
