General Discussion / Another LS7 lives again.
« on: May 30, 2015, 07:29:56 PM »
A friend of mine bought this engine back a couple months ago at an auction which was in a 55 gasser in the 70's.  All owner history is there and long story short this thing might have had 100 miles on it.  But unfortunately from it sitting for 35+ years it needed to be pulled down and gone through.  This is the process I am going through to this point.

Here are some original 70's pics of the LS7 after being balanced and blueprinted after receiving the crate engine from GM.

After sitting on an engine stand for 35+ years.

The only issue that I found was one broken inner spring.

I have studied these pics until my eyes are crossed.  I need few other sets to look it over and see if anyone else can tell me if this car is a NOR or LOS?  BTW these are the best and only ones known to exist (photos)...

« on: February 17, 2015, 06:49:40 PM »
Anyone else happen to see this last night?  I normally never watch it but caught the preview while watching Street Outlaws.  Suppose to have been a "correct" restoration..   ::)  Did anyone else notice the "DZ" engine they picked up for the car?  19N6300?? with a 1I01DZ stampings.  Also suppose to have been a Burnish Brown X77 car but they never showed the tag.

General Discussion / This Pic got me thinking..
« on: December 02, 2014, 03:21:21 PM »
Yeah I know; scary when that happens.   ::)    By this picture it has a upper cowl painted all white which would make it seem like a LOS car.  But because there are no known LOS cars that have the "PBT" would this be a NOR car with an entire cowl painted or a LOS with "PBT"?

General Discussion / Local Car Show This Past Sunday
« on: October 20, 2014, 04:50:41 PM »
Decided to stop working on everything and take a day and get the ole green machine out and hit a local car show.  I bet I had 30 or more people that came up that remembered the car and several other old faces I havent seen in several years.  Only a handful of people have actually seen the car in the past 25 years.  Great day and fun time for a show.  Thanks to z28z11 (Steve) for the pics due to me not having a functioning brain to use a camera.

General Discussion / Took the Day Off....
« on: August 30, 2014, 01:19:17 AM »
and thought I would wash wax finish up any tuneup issues that were left from the previous weekend.  So Im almost finished and I keep hearing a little chatter under the valve cover.  I pull the cover to adjust the valves and get to #7 intake and see what looks like a weak spring.  I pull off the keepers to discover this.

Luckily it didnt drop a valve because I would have been sick..  But got it replaced with a spare I had and everything is back to normal.  Not sure I like the wheels on the car..  Cragars are definitely the leading candidate at this point.

Also a pic of the tailpan after waxing.  I have to retract my first belief of them being semi or satin black.

General Discussion / Found Some More Pics of the Green L78
« on: August 24, 2014, 04:30:25 PM »
These were all taken April of 68 which the first week of April was when my father took ownership of the car.  As for the whole debate on the gloss vs satin vs semi gloss tail panels..  I was always on the semi or satin side until I found these pics.
