Mild Modifications / Which crossflow/transverse muffler on BBC
« on: September 24, 2013, 01:54:03 AM »
I am just wanting a good sounding exhaust system that is stock in appearance but with headers, x-pipe going into a crossflow or transverse muffler and exiting in stock location(67-8) on a BBC. No true duals.. It can be either 2.5"in / 2.5"out or 3"in / 2.5"out. So tell me what you have or what you have heard? I am leaning towards one muffler but I havent heard it in person yet. If you happen to have sound bites load them up as well. Thanks. :)

Originality / 1968 BB Bypass Hose Clamps
« on: August 20, 2013, 05:55:06 PM »
I noticed the other day as I was going over some photos that there were 2 different style heads on the screw portion of the bypass hose clamp.  Was the socket head due to the fact it was soo close to the pulley that a screw driver was not able to be used versus the smooth rounded flat head screw on the intake side of the hose?

Curious if anyone has or can post up photos of an original air cleaner lid, hose to the crankcase vent and flame arrestor.  Photos of the top side and underside of the lid & base if possible.  Thanks, Darrell

General Discussion / I know its not a Camaro but....
« on: July 25, 2013, 11:31:59 PM »
This is what I was working on today..  Setting the valves and adjusting the carb.  Original owner (my uncle) car, early 90s restoration.  My father actually rebuilt the engine back then and I am the only other person to work on the car besides my father and uncle.  Super clean and well documented car.  Interesting story behind the car; he traded in a Marina Blue 67 SS Chevelle and had originally ordered a Fathom Green 69 SS Chevelle but the dealer got in this Garnet Red car from another dealer and he had them add power steering at the dealer and took it home.  Car has also been in Chuck Hanson's ACES magazine as well.  Just thought I would share.

General Discussion / Thought I would share.
« on: July 09, 2013, 08:11:17 PM »
Since everyone loves to see pictures I thought I would share what I ran across a few days ago.  As I was going through some old photos at my mothers I ran across this one.  Still going through old pictures and hoping I find more of the vintage ones of the cars.

My father Carman Cook with his new Camaro - April 1968

And the car he traded in for the Camaro.

Does anyone know when the cut off was for the number being cast into the neck portion and the base?  Or was this a result of different manufacturers?

Originality / Original Tire options

I always see Firestone and Goodyear tires as being the original tires for our cars but what about the other tire manufacturers that were used?

General Discussion / I Just Dont Understand...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Frame-Up-Built-Camaro-Z-28-Rally-Sport-ZZ430-V8-4-Speed-/121093160632?pt=US_Cars_Trucks&hash=item1c31b6feb8#ht_14068wt_978

The sale of this real-deal Z/28 includes an original owner's manual, an original Protect-O-Plate and a full package of information from Camaro expert Jerry MacNeish.

With the price of numbers-matching Z cars hovering around six-figures, they're obviously moving into the "too nice to drive" category. But if you're the kind of guy who believes in putting his hardware on the road, in the feel of a perfectly executed downshift, and the banshee wail of a powerful small block, this exceptionally clean and diabolically fast Z/28 is an absolute bargain! Documented, well-restored, and a pleasure to drive, you'll be proud to answer, "Yes!" every time someone asks if it's a real Z/28.

If you are going to make a statement like that wouldnt you show the evidence?  Not to mention all the things that are wrong or missing on this car (including the "Caution Fan" sticker)...

I guess this covers their rears..

Please note that all sales are binding and final. Our cars are sold "as-is" with no warranty expressed or implied. Please carefully read the terms & conditions of the sale before bidding. Winning this auction does not entitle you to come inspect the car and decide if you want to buy it, but obligates you to complete the purchase! A $1000.00 deposit via PayPal is due within 24 hours of the auction close ... NO EXCEPTIONS.

Pretty sure this company has been discussed before..

General Discussion / Looking for any info possible..
« on: April 16, 2013, 01:42:51 AM »
I was able to go as far back as I can with the history search on my 68 car.  The first known owner of the car was a gentleman by the name of Donald A Dixon.  He was stationed at Kelly AFB and title was issued 05/01/72.  And a loan for the car was done on 04/12/72 thru Goodfellow Federal Credit Union at Goodfellow AFB in San Angelo TX.  This is the only info I can come up with and is the only info they have in Texas.  I did contact the Air Force and received a letter back stating they did not have any info on Mr. Dixon..  If anyone happens to know of or remembers him or the car please let me know.  Thanks in advance..
