76  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / 68 front spoiler mounting on: December 27, 2011, 09:00:14 PM
Can anyone tell me the correct mounting for the small spoiler on the early 68 Camaro? This is the short one that has the grain pattern. Do they use tapped screws into the lower valence or screws with nuts? If anyone has a picture with the correct fasteners it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your help,  Scoop

Thank You.  My car is an 04B build. Is it still right for my car then?
78  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / 68 Camaro clucth and clutch assembly housing on: December 22, 2011, 02:02:25 PM
Can someone tell me the correct finish on my 68 Z28 brake and clutch assembly housing? I removed it and it was painted black. I do not believe it was ever removed before but not sure because I have seen others that were natural like the parking brake assembly. The pedals are natural finish except where they were dipped black up close to the housing.  I have some in natural finish, some  painted black,  and seen them painted silver for a restoration. I want to take this car to the Camaro Nationals so I want it to be correct. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for every one on this site as I have received a wealth of information.

Try the library or the museum in that town.  Thats how I found the info on the dealer  for my vehicle.

Would anyone know the AMK numbers for the early 68 valence screws and captive nuts. I am taking these are the correct items for the early spoiler?  Thanks

Won't the blue edge not be visiblle after you paint the engine? Will this pass for judging?

Has anyone tried Shatkhide?  I have been using it on many metal parts that you want the original patina on. It is a clear liquid that you can apply with a rag or brush or spray. It dries clear and does not have any type of build or paint look. It soakes into the metal surface and the more coats you put on  the better resistance. I used it on my rear four leaf springs that were natural finish to start, and on my front coil springs. They look  completely natural and will not rust. I coated a piece of metal that was sandblased and submurged it in water for a week, pulled it out and it looked just like I put it in. The stuff is awsome.  Especially on leaf springs, where you cannot get paint to stay on a moving surface. I have got many restores in my area to use it and they all like it. You can go to Sharkhide.com to check it out. Eastwood also sells it.

I purchased a set from D & Classics. They fit and look better than the NOS ones I purchased. I have tried every other one out there an sent them all back. D & R Classics has the rights to reproduce them from GM.  They are the best out there. When I finish my restoration on my 68 Z/28 I am going to use them and keep my originals and sell the NOS ones.

I have a new set of NOS hood springs and hindges. The springs are the heavier ss spring. I paid 365.00 for them on E bay and I will sell them for what I paid. Still in the box.
