General Discussion / Rebuilt Engine Trouble
« on: July 10, 2015, 11:06:17 PM »
Need your expert advice.
Rebuilt the 350 and installed.
Now have a wobble when it is in idle and running.
Shakes and wobbles badly.
Tried everything, new wires, new carb, adjusted timing, new plugs, and it stays the same.
I am thinking that the flexplate got bent but it was never at riskof any damage.
Also started to think maybe an issue because the flex-plate seems to have a counterweight and I think it shouldn't. But the trans and engine and flexplate are the same as before. No changes.
I am stumped.
Any thoughts or similar experiences?

General Discussion / Air Conditioning
« on: June 14, 2015, 01:07:21 AM »
I am wondering if anyone out there has an air conditioning system for sale?
Would like to find a car with A/C that is being parted out if any exist. I would prefer that as opposed to Vintage Air etc.
Of course if there isnt such a thing to be found has anyone installed the Vintage Air and do you like it for use, fit and finish?

thanks

General Discussion / Re: Cracked Cylinder Wall Help
« on: June 11, 2015, 05:44:32 PM »
Thanks guys.
I have the block at an engine shop getting sleeved and he is checking everything thoroughly as well.
Will try our best not to repeat. EFI is off the car and staying away. Back to mechanical fuel pump and old school.
Was better anyway I think. Easier on the electrical as well as far more easy.

Thanks Jim.
The temp came up a bit twice but nothing very hot. Fan had an electrical issue and it did overheat but that was a couple of days before it happened.
Not to much to worry about now I guess. The block is at the shop getting a sleeve.
Hopefully it doesnt take too long and it will be back on the road.

General Discussion / Cracked Cylinder Wall Help
« on: June 09, 2015, 07:04:10 AM »
Good evening everyone.
Some opinions and advice please.
Just had a crack in the cylinder #2 wall.
The FAST Easy EFI One failed, car just shut off and would not start, in fact it vapor (fuel?) locked and wouldn't crank over.
After some frustration with the EFI FAST said it needed to be sent to Tennessee for a look. So I pulled the whole fuel injection system and put a mechanical fuel pump back on. Removed the electric fuel pump and regulator.
But when i fired it up it blew white smoke and the rad emptied. I assumed it was a head gasket and changed it. But it ran rough and I knew something was very wrong. When I pulled the head again the piston was down and i got a look at the crack. (see picture).

Now I need some opinions and advice.
Is there any way that the manifold i left on after removing the FAST EFI could have over fueled the engine and caused the pressure ?
Any other thoughts on what caused the crack?
I am going to have it sleeved if possible as it is almost a perfect dated engine. Cost here is $300 to have it sleeved.
Any opinions would be appreciated.

Thanks.

General Discussion / Re: oil pressure fitting
« on: April 23, 2015, 05:25:03 AM »
Ok. Quite embarrassing but I shall confess.
I did not realize that the back of the fitting on the gauge has inside threads. Spent some time looking for a female fitting to reduce to the oil line with no results of course.
Then I actually looked at it and saw the internal threads. AND BAM, there it was.
Thanks to all for the help:)

Can anyone tell me what fitting goes onto the oil pressure gauge/light in the 67 rs/ss with console gauges?
I bought a new line and have to connect to the back.

Thanks.

Thank you so much.
The pictures make perfect sense. I have been using every size nut and bolt that would fit.
Never crossed my mind to use a screw:)
The nut on the back of one end or the other interfered and wouldn't work.
This should now be fine.... Off to locate the two screws somewhere in the pile now that I know what they look like.

Can someone please send me a picture of how the convertible switch is attached to the dash area?
I want to see the screws or nut and bolts if possible.
I cannot tell from AIM exactly what to use to attach properly. Every time I do it works one way and not the other for a bad fit.

thanks

General Discussion / 700 R4 Tranny Question
« on: October 21, 2014, 07:04:41 PM »
Here is another question about the 67 rs/ss.
I have installed a 700R4 transmission but cannot find a neutral safety switch for it.
I am sure others have used this tranny. What did you do for a neutral safety?
I have wired in a old arcade button for the time being. But of course a real solution would be preferred.
Any advice?

thanks
Ken

Thanks for the response sir.
We did try to use the circuit breaker but it wouldn't work for some reason. We were in a hurry at the time to leave for Chicago so we ran it direct if I remember correctly.
I will look at the AIM and get back at wiring it properly.

Hi All;
Looking to have someone send me a picture of the convertible switch as well as the nuts and bolts used to mount it if possible.
I have looked high and low for what hardware to use to secure it and cant find anything.
I have also gone through three switches from Classic in two years. I think we have it wired direct from the battery to the switch.
Any ideas on how to wire correctly?

much appreciated.

Ken
