General Discussion / Re: hood insulation and drain tubes
« on: October 27, 2015, 01:15:46 AM »
Andy first I really like your car for the color combination and originality. I saw a car with original hood pad drain holes but I cant find that picture right now.
I used a gasket cutter and punched holes in mine like the original pad. Not a close up but you can see the holes. Hope that helps. By the way my car was built 11A and had a "WT" master also. George

I learned a lot of tips from everyone here on what to look for on disassembly, that's a lot of the enjoyment in this hobby for me.
Thanks for the nice comments guys. It may have been written on the saddle bags also but I didn't see it there. I tried to put it back the way I found it even though nobody would ever see it again. Found original picture. George

William, bright blue does make more sense. Even though it's almost totally covered by the AC box and not visible I tried to reproduce it with a grease pencil.
It's interesting that the build number was marked on the firewall after painting as it was totally visible with the air box removed. George

I went round & round trying to find the correct reservoir for my BB. I bought that same part from HBC and it did not fit correctly, the supply hose was pointed to close to the exhaust manifold. Here is a picture of my original on the right. George

Chick, thanks for sharing these great pictures. Did you happen to get a picture of the upper shoe springs?

Danny, Parts look correct and very nice. Thanks for sharing photo's. Could you measure the battery hold down bolt from the bottom of the head to the tip? George

Originality / Re: Correct engine paint suggestions please!

Len, Your engine looks great. I like that the paint finish appears to be a little flatter, less glossy, than what you typically see. I was going to use a chemical to dull the fresh paint on my engine but decided not to experiment on it. Good job. George

Scott, I had the paint store mix up some single stage paint and sprayed it on with an Air Brush so I could have better control of the spray pattern. Happy New Years, guys. George

Originality / Booster check valves
« on: November 18, 2014, 01:49:07 AM »
I was told at the Camaro Nationals I had the wrong check valve on my brake booster and I am confused on which one I need for an early 69 ( Nov 68 ) built car. In the photo #1 is what I had at the show, I thought it was original. #2 is on my friends 4-69 built car, #3 is what I have seen in some other posts on 68-69 cars. I couldn't find any discussions here so I thought I ask, what have you seen or know to be correct. George
