I also currently own a 2003 Cadillac that was a ‘brass hat car” it has a second window sticker that has options that where not factory. These cars are not bought like your normal GM employee discount...these cars are delivered to dealership of the executive choice...however the dealership is only paid a small courtesy fee for delivery and prep.
Not all GM employees can get a car in this matter, only top executives can....I was told.
I inherited this car with all the paperwork from the original owner...in 2003 the 2 widow stickers combined totaled $55,000 which included a $4000 set of vogue rims and special gold line tires the sales price to the original owner was only $32,000.
I am wondering what they did in the late 60’s

All I can say is that I would have no problem at all buying a car from Design drive motors!

I sincerely hope that someone here can help you, and a least privately send you a message telling you why it’s believed to be a fake tag.

Many people on this forum really know what they are looking at.
Also they have a data base to back up what they know.
I have even seen before where it’s known that a certain car (that is known of) has the same body tag number as another car proving one car is fake.
I am not saying that’s the case here, I’m just saying there are ways to tell by using the data base.

I for one think you are representing a beautiful car and really appreciate the fact that you are trying to verify it.
It shows great integrity on your part.

Anytime lister spells like that its a dead giveaway...not to mention the low price and how long it’s been listed for...if it was a real deal it would’ve been gone...someone he knows or has seen the car would of grabbed it!

I thought all rubber tires have date codes on them. You should be able to tell at least the year

I always thought that cars with salvage titles were worth less (even when fully restored correctly) because lenders won’t lend money on them....although I am not sure how that works in the collector car world. Does anybody know?

I noticed a large increase lately in the amount of scams for cars and Parts.
I put a WTB ad up and the only reply’s I received were from scammers!

My only thought would be that if it has a salvage title ....(which it should) the value is greatly diminished. The cost of doing a correct restoration could be double the value of the car....so would restorer cut corners?

That looks like wet moisture that is dripping around trim tag to me, not black paint.
Anybody else see it that way?

I believe the Seat bottoms are different (shorter in length) ....you can use a standard convertible seat bottom.

I have had several Camaro’s and currently own 2 at this moment.
I have owned one of them for 30 years....Bill gates does not have enough money to buy it from me!

My daughter wants that one some day!  My son wants the corvette it’s an automatic, he doesn’t like sticks!
I noticed lots of the younger generation doesn’t like to row gears.....I often wonder how that will affect values of some cars in the future?
however my daughter is younger then my son.....and she has also gotten in more trouble!
