211  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: 1969 Rally Green Z/28 on ebay in the DB? on: December 02, 2012, 12:03:27 PM
There seems to be a lot missing and/or incorrect for that kind of money.
212  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 1967 SMALL Journal Crank...revisited on: November 15, 2012, 10:57:58 PM
"note that the VIN stamp is upside down"

I don't believe that is uncommon for LOS cars.
213  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Dash pad codes on: November 06, 2012, 10:39:24 PM
Are any of the cars with numbers in grease pencil LOS built? If so, how do the numbers compare with the body scheduling number on the TT?

I think that julian dates need a year to associate it's production with. Shocks with julian dates would be something like 256 67 for instance.

Motor Trend may have been privy to some shop/dyno testing where fuel research was taking place; you know...in the name of science ;-)
216  Model Specific Discussions / Trans-Am Camaros / Re: General talk about Trans-Am cars, parts, whatever... on: October 30, 2012, 10:20:59 PM
A couple things I bought at Sears back in the day; well used. The gauges are Penske vacuum and compression.

218  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: eBay '67 Holley Z28/L78 carb on: October 29, 2012, 10:08:47 PM
These are not original carbs and would be perfect for a clone/tribute. I have never been in favor of using original parts to build non original cars.
1. It uses up rare parts that should be used to restore original cars, and
2. Eventually someone will be convinced they have the real deal because their car has original parts; and potentially take advantage of someone else.

Thanks Jon, that's what I was expecting. The use of prototype in general, and that the car is #17 so how could it be the last one really didn't make sense other than enthusiastic writing. I agree, I'd consider the first 25 early production models and the only prototype I know of would be 13M 640, although there may be another possibility. Sad to hear how Gary was taken on that deal. That's just a reminder that no good deed goes unpunished.

Great picture of the blue Terry Allan car. A lot of stuff going on in that photo.

Jon,

Besides salesmanship... any idea what this means?

"And the result is this 302 cubic inch mill which, in addition to being original to the car, is thought to be the last prototype 302 in existence and the only prototype 302 ever displayed to the public."

Neither one look real.
223  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: 1111266 z/28 distributor on: October 21, 2012, 09:53:24 PM
Anyone have the ebay listing. That's way too cheap if it was real.
224  Model Specific Discussions / Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Interview with Gary Morgan, Trans-Am racer on: October 20, 2012, 04:49:04 PM
Jon,

The traction arm body mounts look opposite hand. Is the left side a Firebird bracket?

No doubt that Mike's attention to detail is incredible. If he can work that magic with something so small, just think what he would do with a full scale model.
