Well, there are plenty of engine swaps with different makes, so that's nothing new. I'm sure you have tried to reason with your friend to make sure that's what he/she really wants to do. If it makes you feel better, you're providing a service; no judgment necessary. Just try to preserve things the best you can for a future reversal.

For 1967, BY was fairly popular for Z's with nearly 10% built out of 15 factory colors available. With the new and more exciting colors for 68 and 9, it's not surprising that its popularity diminished. When you do one right as Chick showed above, BY is impossible not to like!

Despite it's issues, the topic 69 looks pretty good in that color.

In addition, maybe the front bumper was changed sometime during the past 54 years.  That might be why there is no evidence of the bumper guards.  Just a thought.

Remember, the rear bumper guards were standard, however the front's were optional. The car may not have been equipped with them, which is why there is no evidence of them. The car certainly may have had front end work done at some time though that could have eliminated them.
