Restoration / Re: New reproduction 1967 door lock knobs

Thanks for digging that out Jon. That's what I was expecting. The style matches the black original that you posted. If I posted right you'll see the difference from the one listed as NOS. I have seen several reproduction pieces lately being sold as NOS, so I'm always suspicious.

Jon, great article and information. That's the first I've seen on the Stormer's, and I wondered how many there were and if any survived. I've seen pictures of the Penske car with the SS hood before, do you know why they used it (maybe the same reason as Boye's car)? You'd think they too would have removed the grilles to save weight.

Jon, Someone had what they stated were NOS chrome knobs on eBay, but they looked like the reproduction piece that you presented; four ribs (coincidentally, they looked the same as the chrome reproduction knobs in my Rick's catalog). The originals in your first pic have five ribs. So I was wondering if the two were shaped the same or if they actually had different styles for the deluxe/standard interiors. One thing I did notice on them though is that they had the same ring pattern on top as the originals pictured here.

Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Interview with Gary Morgan, Trans-Am racer

Jon, the price was lower than I thought it would go for, but compared to some other cars that went across it was actually decent money. The reserve came off at 150 so the seller must have gone in with low expectations. It's a good thing it didn't have a Hemi in it!

Jon, Are the chrome knobs shaped the same as the ones in your first two pics?

In 1967 the LOS plant built cars with and without smog systems. Cars delivered in CA (and presumably special ordered with the equipment for out of state sale) got it; normal out of state delivery cars did not.

I thought the same thing looking at that picture. I wonder why Dana didn't get cars from NOR? Since four of the first eight Z's went to the west coast and their obvious connections it would seem logical. Any idea how they got around the homologation rules?

Jon, Thanks for posting this article; it confirmed at least one thing for me.

Searching the CRG site shows your QS axle to be 3.07 with standard brakes. I have seen printed elsewhere that QS axles are metallic brakes. Have you checked that?
