At Tonawanda we never alloyed production castings with nickel.

How about non production? Maybe some went out to racers?

Thanks William. That said, it would seem unlikely that a car would be pulled off the line or lot with that combo as the pace car mock up. It sounds like it has to be more deliberate than that.

Was the Orange Houndstooth interior available prior to the pace car release?

If the vin on the trans matches the car I would definitely keep it. Otherwise, use it as a core exchange. Oh yeah...good luck with your search.

Your vin indicates that the car was built much later than realistic for the bumper guards to be factory installed. They are very unique though and more valuable than the more common ones. Those typically go for $150 and up. So with the rarity of yours, I wouldn't be surprised if they are worth more than three times that. But again, you have to find the person that needs them; to that person, they may be priceless.

And I agree with Chick, make all the memories you can with your son; you can not put a price on that!

"I feel pretty certain in stating an absolute here... VIN stamps for Camaros were ALWAYS done with the heads on no matter whether they are SB or BB or assembled at Van Nuys or Norwood. "

Yeah...I didn't think that through all the way. Of course the heads are on because the vin's are stamped after being assigned to a car; not at the engine plant. Thanks for straightening me out.

As to the value... there is probably a small market for them, which may not help bring the value up. Either someone with a very early car (how many of the first few weeks of production are around and had that option?) and a parts collector.

"They're VERY rare, and were only used for the first few weeks of production"

Do you have the build date from the trim tag and vin? That might help determine if they belonged on the car you sold.

Aerating the fuel for what purpose?

Jon,

The thought was that oxygenating the fuel would make it burn better...more efficient, more power, etc. We tried it in stock cars, but never saw any proof of improvement.

John...sidebar; why are some vin stamps upside down? Heads on or off maybe making more room for the gang stamp?
