Hi Steve,
I recently attended a Goodguys show in Pleasanton. One of the large vendors had a display Camaro with a cowl with no vents. It appeared to be an aftermarket produced item. Sorry i didn't get any info. You might do a search or question on http://www.lateral-g.net/forums/.  Most of those vendors post there. At least someone might send you in the right direction. Definitely no need to fab your own.

Just my opinion don't add anything. This paint has enough metallic to jump off the car when it's out in the sun. Pictures don't really do justice for this color.

  I agree also. Scott I'm sure you will be more than pleased with the results. A quality paint with a quality application will make that Burnished Brown really pop. Budget in for color sanding and maybe bury the stripes under the clear and it will be a standout.
    You can't go wrong financially with a factory "look" paint job. The car will retain its value for the purists. Really, does any Z/28 need anything out of the ordinary to make a statement?

Hi Scott,
     I think Burnished Brown  looks terrific in its original form. It is very difficult today to get a quality repaint in a single stage as the factory did many years ago.  The new clear coats will look beautiful  on your car, and likely give you plenty of flash.
     When my Olympic Gold was done almost 10 years ago, the single stage was tried, but with poor results. It was removed and followed up with Glassuit two stage clear. It ended up fabulous, and really makes the Gold stand out in the crowd. The downside is, I just did a Concours in Carmel for the Monterey Week, and was dinged by the judges because of the clear coat. I don't know about judging elsewhere, this is the first time I've been penalized.  The upside is the paint should last a very long time, and they tell me it is very easy to repair.
     My personal taste is to keep them original. The original colors and look really puts them back in 69.

Could you find any original paint on the bottom side of the A-post areas?

   Yes, I'm familiar with the late 69 intro of the side posts, thank you for the link.  Where I'm going with this is I'm trying to figure the possibility of side posts on my 03B  23,000 mile 69Z, maybe as an option? The original owner swears the car came with a side post battery.  The car was a dealer leftover and wasn't sold till June of 1970. Maybe the dealer had to replace the original battery before delivery, I don't know. I was sure the cable codes on the Chassis  Broadcast  would give me the answer, but apparently not.
   I appreciate any leads on my quest!

I was hoping to determine if the FM specified if the chambered or std dual exhaust was on the Z/28.
In regards to the battery cables, any idea if these were top or side posts?

Decoding/Numbers / Decoding a 1969 Chassis Broadcast Copy

Hello,
  After a considerable amount of site searching, it seems I have failed to find some decoding information on a 1969 L.A. Chassis Broadcast Copy. In particular, i am looking for information on item box 198 "Exhaust System" which is printed "FM".
    In addition, I'm looking for item boxes 254 and 256 "Bat Cable" which are printed MF for the positive and BF for the negative.
If these are decoded somewhere, please steer me in the right direction, if not I hope someone may know the answers for these code letters.

Bob...I have used alcohol & water for years. Trust me, the stuff up top is much better. And yep, thirty yrs ago my body had no trouble turning into a pretzel, not anymore. BTW, I think you are one time zone away from me. Where abouts is the show?

Its the Monterey Car Week. Lots of activities including the Historic Races. I'm preparing for the Concours on the Avenue in Carmel on the 16th. Marty, I can sure relate to the thirty years ago!

Thanks for the tip! I just went through the frustration today preparing for an upcoming concours. I ended up just using rubbing alcohol, but it is definitely lacking. Boy, the inside of the back window is a killer! Thanks again!

Hi, I have an original 23,000 mile 69 Z/28. My particular driveshaft has a part number stenciled on it. I don't see any others on this thread with anything similar, other than what Bertfam posted.  The car is a Los Angeles build, 03B, 302 with M21.  Photos:
