2  Model Specific Discussions / Trans-Am Camaros / Re: Current minilites vs JL-8 brakes? on: March 15, 2015, 10:38:20 PM
The "minilite"design has varied considerable over the years with some shapes needing a bit of grinding to clear.    They sent me a go/no go drawing that says it should work but I would love to hear confirmation.

WHO would they be selling 15x8 Minilites to other than owners of Camaros and Corvettes of that generation (late sixties/early 70's)??  One of the Camaro fellas (either here or TC) owned a set of them a few years ago... not sure I can find his name very quickly right now thought.   I think you are safe but I don't blame you for trying to make sure before shelling out the $$...

Boss 302 guys.

The video does show the Lemans start.  I would love to see the pictures.

I have never heard of this story either but I have seen the pictures you posted before. I just thought they were independent cars. I never could picture a 71 mustang as a good road racer.

I found this video of the race Warren was killed at. Looks like there were plenty of things to hit along side the course.

Yes, Ford had them for sure in 69,70. Not certain in 67,68 though.

Correct. Might be a chicken coop in Mexico as far as anyone knows.

Here is the rear deck area.

The 70 Bud Moore car #775 had a three link set up but Parnelli set faster times in the normal suspension car so it was removed. You can see what remains of the brackets and the three link that they all had. This car had a very high rear deck area in front of the rear window inside the car and the rear shocks were outboard of the frame rails too. You can also see part of the over ride traction bars where they pass through the floor.

That cage is very unusual and not very safe looking.

What is the flat metal plate for that is bolted to the frame near the front leaf spring mount? It almost looks like part of a leaf spring.

Looks great.   Are they the new Coker repro tires?

I would imagine a ton of garbage would go through there during a race especially if it was raining.

Usually anything that high profile gets chopped up unless it is getting exported. It is easier to sell the parts that way.
