1  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Re: 69 04D 14x7 rally wheel trim ring & center caps on: September 10, 2014, 02:53:22 PM
The 14 x 7 trim rings used the 4 clip design throughout the model year. The original ones I have for an 04C build are 4 clip. I think it was just the 15 inch trim rings that changed mid to late year.

3  Camaro Research Group Discussion / General Discussion / Re: HELP!! I need info regarding original exhaust DB level!! on: July 15, 2014, 12:39:20 PM
Gardner Exhaust makes factory original systems right down to the exhaust clamps. I would go to their web site and read their product descriptions. Also, they may be able to assist in info regarding DB level.  I would also mention that GM had the chambered exhaust system as standard on Z/28's early in the 1969 model year and available as an option through late April. That is substantially louder than a system with a muffler.
4  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Radiator Tank Codes 1969 on: June 23, 2014, 05:27:46 PM
Restoring a 1969 big block automatic with Turbo 400. I looked at the tank codes listed and did not see my code. The passenger side tank is stamped SB with a date code C. No codes on the driver side tank that I could see. It is a Harrison radiator. Any ideas what the SB code is ? has the correct brackets.  Thanks
5  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Decoding/Numbers / Re: Zeroing in on X code start up on: June 01, 2014, 07:25:24 PM
Went to a cruise this evening. Saw a 1969 X55 L78 car that I had not seen before. Build date was 12 B. VIN is N559370 and the build number is NOR 146170, the six might be a five. Old eyes aren't as good these days but looked like a 6
6  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Restoration / Re: New 67 ragtop on: January 20, 2014, 03:48:51 PM
I used Electron Top on my Pace Car. The installer who put it on has been doing this for 40 years. Electron is the brand he uses for its fit and looks. I do not know of anyone reproducing the right codes for the rear window.  The original corner trim tabs are getting hard to find. Be mindful of how the installer mounts the top over the front header. For manual tops, there is also a gray plastic piece that mounts on the front.  These seem to get tossed when the top is replaced

It is a 1969. Car would have been imported into Canada ( Ontario ) with the smog. The original owner bought the car and the smog had already been removed.  Holes in the exhaust manifolds were plugged.  The original owner did not take the smog off the car. That is how the car was purchased. I a restoring the car now and debating about the smog system

10  Camaro Research Group Discussion / Originality / Canadian Emissions / Smog on: January 09, 2014, 12:51:30 PM
Was wondering if any Canadian members might be able to help with a question.  Spoke to the original owner of my car and was told that it was sold from the dealer without the smog set-up. The first owner did not take the smog off the car.  Does anyone else know if Canadian dealers might have taken the smog system off cars when sold ?  thanks
