Restoration / replacing rear outer wheelhouse
« on: September 16, 2011, 07:15:29 AM »
Ok, here's what im facing. I have a 67 Camaro, at the preset time, the lower rear quarters, trunk floor, taillight panel, rear inner valence, has all been removed. Both of my rear inner wheelhouses are in good shape, but the outer wheelhouse sections are bad on about 12" of the rear portion. My question is, were about to begin putting in a complete trunk floor, should I replace the outer wheelhouses prior to this or after? Also, since only a small portion of the rear of the wheelhouses are bad, could I use only a portion of a new wheelhouse, instead of replacing the whole thing. Also, is it even possible to replace a outer wheelhouse w/ out removing the entire quarter panel???? Please help!!!

Originality / console gauge car or not?
« on: August 14, 2011, 04:00:20 PM »
I'm in the process of restoring a 67 ss350 and was looking for clues on whether or not it originally had console gauges. The interior was almost completely stripped when I got the car.trim tag says it had a console but its gone as is the speedo/tach. I be heard there should be a small hole in the firewall behind the distributor are but my firewall has been "hammered" back to make more room for a modern distributor. I can see a hole that was punched halfway out, but it looks like it may have closed during the "hammering". Any other clues to look for??

Ok, so its a FACT,well probably NEVER know how many TRUE rs/ss's were made, I know. BUT, over the years we've been to many shows, seen many camaros, n alot of us take time to look at the TRIM TAG (if the hood is up) to check the legitimacy. We know in 67 there was aprox. 31,000 TRUE SS's, without opening up a can of worms TOO big, what's the guestimation of how many was made each year (67-69) ? We all have that # in our head, but just for fun, let it out! I, say, 1967- 6,207 1968- 7,118 1969- 5,021. There, it had to be said, sue me lol.

General Discussion / L48 "actual " horsepower
« on: July 19, 2011, 11:33:13 AM »
We all know alot of the horsepower ratings were underestimated, but does anyone know what the actual horsepower of the first L48s were? Or was it pretty close to the 295 rating?

Decoding/Numbers / 4P 396?
« on: July 17, 2011, 10:44:26 PM »
My brother is the owner of a 67 SS Camaro. According to the cowl tag, the car was a factory 4spd, basic interior, maderien maroon, with a date 10C (3rd week Oct '66). It has the 4P code, but no signs of the bracket to bolt the tortion bar to. As. Far as I can tell the floor looks original. Could this have been an early 396 car ? ( motor and muncie are now gone, unfortunately)

General Discussion / LA/Norwood shipping
« on: July 17, 2011, 03:33:50 PM »
Is it correct to believe that van nuys cars were shipped generally to dealerships in the midwest and west coast, while Norwood coveredthe rest? Or did the cars go wherever according to supply and demand?
