All,

For the satin black that went on the rockers for RS cars, light exterior paint, did the upper edge fold into the car so you actually saw the black on the near horizontal when you opened the door or did it stop at the effective bottom of the door when the door was shut?

Restoration / Trunk Restoration

All,

Planning on putting the sound deadening material on the trunk floor under the mat. Can I assume that from the floor up, to the drip rails, that the speckled paint was used to include inner fender well, back of back seat bracing, structure between inner fenders and trunk lid hinges, etc...?

Restoration / Re-upholstering '67 front seats

Any thoughts/recommendations on whether I should tackle the re-upholstering of my deluxe seats considering the fact that I have never done it before? Is there a knack that only the pro's have or can a guy watch a youtube video and figure it out?

I have the new cushions and seat covers already. I also have the hooks and pliers needed.

A local guy, who is very reputable, told me that for him to do it, with me providing all materials, would run me $225 for the front seats.

Thoughts?

Originality / Early '67 Camaro/SS

Folks,

My Camaro was built in early Nov '66. I am seeing places where a distinction is made before and after 16 Nov '66 with respect to Camaros.

Does anyone have a list as to what changes were made to the Camaro and specifically the SS Camaro after 16 Nov '66?

For instance, did rally wheels arrive on the scene then?

Restoration / Speedometer Gear

All,

I had received some info on this several months back but can't seem to locate it.

My car was a factory 12-bolt, 3:31 gears and I just pulled out the speedometer gear, red w/21 teeth, original Powerglide.

I found elsewhere that a 4:10 had 25 teeth.

I have changed out the gears to 3:73. Can I deduce then that the new speedometer gear would be 23 teeth?

What is the best material for the money to obtain to do the sound dampening materials in the car? Hush Mat? Dynamat? Acousti-shield?

Is it worth it purchasing the form fitting kits or to buy 2x2 squares or something like that?

Restoration / '67 Power Disc Automatic Brake Pedal

Did the automatic brake pedal for '67 Disc Brake equipped Camaros have the circular plate in the center of the pedal calling out Disc Brakes like '68 and '69?

Restoration / '67 SS Air Cleaner

All,

Can anyone tell me definitively whether the SS Air Cleaners had the extension tube passing the alternator?  I thought mine must have been pulled off at some point but I don't see any rivet or weld indicators that one was ever there.

I also just saw another '67 SS engine in which the extension was not on that car either. It seems like there must have been one or they would had a different air cleaner base.

Lastly, where can I find the exact specs on where the 295hp turbo fire decal should go on the air cleaner.  I see the slight indicator on this current lid where it likely went, but I wanted to make sure.

Restoration / Detailing '67 12-bolt

All, trying to detail my 12-bolt for paint.  The axle faxces came clean by about 50%.  How abrasive can I get to get the tough stuff off?  For the rest of the rear end I have been going at it with scrapers, wire brushes and paint thinner.  Any other thoughts? -Matt

I have to replace some fuel line/brake line frame clips.  Originals are held on by rivets allowing the clips to spin.  Thoughts on the best way to fasten the new ones to the frame?

Decoding/Numbers / Console/Gauges VIN Decode

I have seen conflicting guidance out there on the console versus console/tach & gauges in the trim tag decode.  Is there anything different in the cowl tag regarding these two options?  Any hard connection between gauges on an SS with respect to 4spd or Powerglide?

Restoration / '67 Beige Vinyl Top

All,

Looking for pics of any Camaros out there with the Beige Vinyl top.  SMS sent me a sample and declares this to be the original.  It is darker than I imagined but believe it would still work out nicely with the Sierra Fawn color of the car.  I have included a scan of the sample and would really appreciate any pictures of recent '67 restorations with the Biege Vinyl top.
