Please elaborate
Thanks

Howdy Ed and Marty Thanks for the info. I would prefer to try to get my ORIGINAL to the car VR rebuilt. If we can start from there can anyone recommend a rebuilder I can ship it to to see if its repairable or fishing weight.
I don't think I am up to doing the solid state conversion although it sounds like a great idea.
Thanks again for all the help!

Restoration / Re: Front spoiler repair 69

Thanks for the tips and links. What I need to determine first is what type of material the front spoiler is made of then I can locate the correct materials for repair.

Restoration / Front spoiler repair 69
« on: September 18, 2012, 03:53:41 AM »
Not only did our VR fry yesterday and run down the battery but we had the car towed (no flat bed available for 3 hours) the tow driver did a great job except for the final driveway where the front edge of the spoiler lip rmade contact with that awfully hard concrete and it split the spoiler at the center bolt hole. I can refinish the paint scrap/scratches no problem but would like suggestions for the best repair material to fix the split and give it some strength......
Thanks for all the help

P.S. Yesterday 09/17 was an bad day but we did win first in "Pony Car" class at the Palos Verdes Concours here in So Cal and beat some incredibly amazing cars so the day was not a total bad experience! Now I just need to fix everything that got fouled up....oh the joys of owning a classic muscle car.

Thanks I will check into the wells set up but our car is all numbers matched so a date coded one for judging is necessary. Saw a seller on ebay with a bunch. The economy is in the toilet and he wants big bucks..........would still like to try to get this one fixed so any suggestions...........Thanks LM69Z28

Fried my VR this past weekend in the bad heat wave we are having here in So Cal. I recall in 2006 Mr John Pirkle rebuilt it for me. I understand he is no longer with us. Is there a rebuilder taking his place or can any CRG member recommend one or know of someone or who has hoarded stocks of these and has a 69 dated ( 9A) for sale.
Thanks for the help as always

Restoration / Re: Cad Finishes
« on: September 13, 2012, 05:18:37 PM »
Thanks Guys, the question originates from the plating chart in Jerry M's book. Specifically the alternator fan for Z28 silver cadium and alternator pulley silver cadium dichromate. I will assume (hate to do that) that silver zinc finish is acceptable for both pieces or?
Thanks

Originality / Re: 69 Horn GM Numbers
« on: September 13, 2012, 04:26:18 AM »
Jerry M restored my original set of non working horns 8 years ago. They look great and work perfectly and they have the correct numbers and brackets........Retsore those originals if you can its well worth it and watch out for  the repros that say "Made in France"
Just my 2 cents

My lower kick panel vent knob (drivers side) came apart in my hand today. Split right into 2 pieces. I checked a few aftermarket places but could only find the entire assembly with cable etc. Do the make the knobs separately?
If not I'll epoxy the 1/2's back together and not use it again.
Thanks for your input
