In the pits at the Donnybrooke Trans Am in 1971. Warren Fairbanks' Camaro #96, Jerry Lagod's Camaro #44 and John McComb's Mustang #33.

The show car doesn't have widened fenders either. The body looks stock. I'm sure that's just a show car.

There's an interesting picture in the book "Corvette-Star Spangled Sports Cars" that shows the Owens-Corning Corvettes taking the checker, finishing 1-2 at a national at Mid-Ohio in the rain and right behind them finishing 3rd O.A. and winning B Production is Ike in the AMX.

Frank Search's driving style was fun to watch!  All you ever saw was the side of the car...

I remember Gary Fautch driving one at a Road America Trans Am in the late 70's and it was still in the IROC paint.

This photo is from the Canadian Touring Car Championship race that wknd. - won by Mo Carter, then Al Mason, Peter Schwartzott, Jean-Guy Roy, Doug Weaver, Francois Favreau, and myself in 7th.  All except
Weaver and Mason ran in some T/A races.  Weaver drove a camaro - might have come from Michigan and later became a well known Corvette racer?  Don't remember him racing a camaro any other time at Harewood or Mosport.

The CTC races were Canada's version of the T/A races.

Robert Barg

Robert, you may be thinking of Ron Weaver. He was from Michigan and drove an A Production Corvette during the era when the Owens Corning Corvettes were dominating.

Does anybody have pictures of the 1969 Camaro driven by Paul Jett? It was orange and said "Handy Andy" on the rear fenders. I saw it at the MIS Trans Am in 1971.

I think the best looking wheel of the late 70's early 80's era.

Great stuff...you just need to put open face helmets on them all.

The Michigan race was run along with an SCCA national. It made for an excellent A Sedan field with several cars running the national and the T/A.

that's  in it's original 'skin' ..  as a '68..  Does anyone know when it was reskinned as a '69?   If someone wanted to 'restore' it to it's former glory as a Trans Am racer, would it necessarily have to go back to the '68 skin?

It was reskinned after the 1970 season. Jerry ran Trans Ams in 1971 and 1972 with the '69 body and Dupli-Color sponsorship.
