Fantastic shots!  Nice clear color photos.  That's what makes this site so great. Thanks for sharing.

Trans-Am Camaros / Jones cable drive Tachometer
« on: June 07, 2011, 01:46:16 PM »
Had a great time meeting Jon and talking with Chad at Infineon despite the rain out.  Sunday I was at a swap meet and spied a Jones-Motorola Tach, cable drive style with cable, in fairly nice condition amongst a bunch of non-race items so I asked the guy the proverbial "How much?" expecting something insane.  After a bit haggling I walked away with it for $55.  I'll post some photos when I'm not so busy...last week of school!

Those are Bomalloy Products Fasteners...Somewhere I have an original catalog.  I was taking a fasteners class in College and the sales rep for this company made a presentation.  One of the machinists in the class gave him a bad time about the sloppy fit of the nuts and bolts he passed around.  That's why I remember the logo.

Trans-Am Camaros / "Atta Boy" Jon, Guldstrand Camaro

Check out page 46 in the July Hot Rod Magazine. Our fearless leader Jon gets credit for the authentication of the 69' Guldstrand T/A Camaro.  How about a vintage photo of this car as it should look Jon?

Yeah I was wondering if Dan was going to ever finish it or if he gave up.  I saw a photo of the cover and that's the last I heard about it.  It should be pretty good as he has been involved with a Chevy, a Ford and a Mopar.

Robert, the University of Pittsburgh Camaro is listed on the Historic Trans Am website as owned by John Miller out of Indiana.

Or how about one of these?  I know one of these is setting in someone's garage right now needing a ton of work.  Will we ever see it?

Here's another car I'd like to see, Vince Gimondo's 69'Camaro.  This car has been restored but from what I understand has too many updates for the Historic Trans Am group.  Sad

I was very interested to know what happened to the 1970 Camaro that Smokey Yunik built (was originally gold and black like most of his cars).  Discovered this very same car was later painted orange and sponsored by AJ Foyt, driven by Swede Savage.  I read somewhere that the car went to Switzerland? and has been restored to original gold and black.Anxious to see photos of it now.  Also understand this Camaro was the FIRST 1970 Camaro built by R and D at GM, given to Smokey to build a race car from rather than destroy it.

I highly recommend "Sunday Driver" by Brock Yates.  He goes through driver's school and gets his novice permit.  He then sets out to get his permanent racing license borrowing some small cars and finally joins Warren Agor and Dave Hoselton with their 69' Camaros.  He gets to race in the 1971 Trans Am Series against the likes of Donohue, Jones, Savage, etc. Very well written  and funny.  Once you start reading you won't be able to put it down.  I ask my auto students to read 2 books in my class.  The first is The Unfair Advantage and this is the second one!

Jon,
Is all this Vintage Trans Am stuff from your personal collection?
