Wow!  Look at the size of the crowd.  I missed this race because of the overheated engine at Bryar.  If I remember, team-mate Dave Lawler finished 8th in his camaro?

11   U.S. Gallons - same as NASCAR.  You are right - they were heavy - needed a strong guy to handle them.

Will certainly add my thanks to Jon and others who have contributed to this forum - a great trip down Trans-Am racing memory lane for me.

Merry Christmas to all,

According to ultmateracinghistory.com Dewar only raced one T/A race at the Glen in 69, with the Javelin - described as the Ronnie Kaplan Javelin.

Gordon passed away in the mid eighties if I remember.

The guy who just sold the 68 camaro race car on ebay, also has a 69 AMX roller listed on ebay.

Mike, the project clone car is coming along, although I haven't seen it for several months.  The goal is to be ready for the 2014 NW vintage season.

After we did 3 T/A races in 72, the owner Al Richards sold the car to a Vito Micielli, who raced at Pinecrest Speedway just outside of Toronto.  Al knew many of these stock car guys and worked with some
of them in his day job.  Usually he borrowed one of their single axle stock car trailers for our T/A expeditions, and I wouild borrow pick up tricks from my friends to tow the trailers.

Several years ago I contacted Vito's son who told me the camaro got "bent" and was parted out.  "No idea what happed to the remains but likely went to a scrap yard".

Mike, you referred to a Bob Tucker racing for Bannerman Motors.  Most of us knew him as Bud.  Not sure of his real first name but can find out.  Gary Grant is his son "The Garage Blog".

Forgot to post this, but sadlly I learned that weekend, that Paul Nichter has passed.  "Nic" raced that ex Jowett 68 camaro very hard - he was one of the leading independant drivers
and had several top 10 finishes. "Just drive the wheels off of that camaro" he told me one day.

That #9 69 camaro listed earlier on Racing Junk has been relisted - same price but now showing a lap time of 2:27.2 at RA.  That is a smokin' hot lap time.

I suspect a "modernized" car with a big small block and/or a pro driver.

I should clarify my above post re   ultimateracinghistory  .  Trans-Am results are listed   When I said no SCCA, I meant their regular amateur club races

Has anyone read  "I am Parnelli Jones" .  Looks like a good read but curious if there is much about his T/A days.  PJ was one of the toughest ever to strap on a helmet.

Google up   "IMSA history"  for results

Some of the SCCA regions have historians - usually older guys who kept results etc.

If you can find some SCCA monthly  "Sports Car" mags, they have results.

ultimateracinghistory.com  is very useful - they list some of the pro series drivers but not scca.  Also check their listing of tracks and what races and dates they ran - can see who raced in the events.

RacingSportsCars is another one to check out.

I remember we had a false Le Mans start for the 69 Sebring race.  There was a timing mix-up and we had to run across the track again.  It kind of took the edge off, having to do it twice.  I made sure I was
belted up and waited till most of the cars had left.  Didn't want to get involved in any nonsense right at the start.
