Is this a 67 or a 68 - I see a 67 grill but no vent windows?  I can't make it this weekend to Sonoma but will try for Monterey.  Hope to see it there.  Best of luck in your resto.

That sounds more like it as the tunnel was really beat up.

When it let go there was a terrific explosion - it beat up the inside of the driveshaft tunnel.  Mist have had a safety loop as I coasted around the large turn at the end of the straight and came to a stop
off to the side.

Sorry - memory fade.  In 71 the front drive-shaft yolk exploded going down the front straight - reason for the dnf that year.  It was engine failure in 72.

Great photo - looks to be my car in the outside row 10 cars back.  I can barely make out the camera mount plate.  We were dnf with engine problems.  The old 67 had finally run out of steam - was
the last race for it.

This would be a great car for a few guys to team up on.  Don't over-restore it - perhaps back to original colours?

Jerry and I did  Mid-Ohio, WG, and Michigan in 71.  Look at the Q times on ultimateracinghistory and you can see we were about at the same
performance level.  At Mid-Ohio we finished on the same lap and near the end I could see him and the 2 other guys - Perez and Wiseman, just
ahead of me.  Had no clue as to what position we were in so I elected to stay in "cruise mode" (should have gone for it!!}

I don't remember that we even had roll-bar padding in those days?

Had one of those MD seats in the ex Alfie Ruys de Perez 69 camaro that Rick and I got from him.  Sure felt strange at first but got used ot it - lots of support.  Not sure how many vintage T/A cars
are using them now or if even legal but I do see some of those early basic buckets being used.

Congrats on your purchase. Nice to see an old warrior back on the track.  Any chance it will come to the west coast races this year?

That's what I thought, but what is the author of the story referring to in his last paragraph?
