And the whole "Cross ram still in the trunk from the factory" we know was a myth that never happened. Jerry's book pages 30, 31 and 32
But nice sales pitch. Another issue going on with the car along with the ones already mentioned. The build date of 02B is to early for D80 on the cowl tag. This thing is looking very fishy. Fake trim tag I would say.

I understand this car is a sham for the most part, BUT there was a recent post by john mello showing vintage documents where 67 Z-28 did have the cross ram in the trunk, how long was done for and after seeing those documents how could you disprove that a cross ram didn't come in the trunk? thanks

General Discussion / Re: 1969 DZ BLOCK OR NOT...
« on: October 05, 2013, 04:30:06 PM »
If it is a CE block and you are selling it by itself, it may depend on the casting date. IS it a 4 bolt main or 2 bolt? Has it ever been bored out? .30 out? I would guess a bare short block that hasn't been bored out would fetch between $500 and $1000. It all depends on what someone may be looking for. Is this a block you have? you are buying? or you are looking for one?
If you have it or are potentially going to purchase post some pics of it with bore size to get more feed back on it

Maintenance / Re: Gas type

So did this the same car that did not have a trim plate?
Gasoline wise I would agree with has been previously posted, I would say the chances are very slim 87 would be satisfactory for your motor. Even my 396 325hp block which is 10.25 compression ratio (mild) and if I run less than 91 octane it pings and there is obvious pre-detonation while cruising. If you were only going to put gas in it to get it on the trailer or moving it around the shop then 87 may be ok IMO.

Decoding/Numbers / Re: 69Z rear ratios

I had a Z with 3.55 gears and a M-21, the car was such a dog off the line, until you were rolling at about 20mph, then you were good to go. In fact I had to keep a close eye on the tach because the motor was still pulling well into the 7000 rpm range. I have have the 3.73 which is a lot better in my current Z,  and I would say a 4.10 or even 4.55 would be more ideal a set up for the 302 4 speed configuration.

Originality / Re: Missing trim tag
« on: September 30, 2013, 02:40:43 AM »
Well in California with any cars that old, you are the expert, the DMV employee in charge of inspections has asked me what they should be looking for. I also have had them ask on a 65 mustang to look at the door tag, (which has the vin, trans, rear ratio, paint) the funny thing is, it says right on the tag "not for title or registration purposes". So you know stupid is as stupid does I guess.

If you didn't purchase the P.O.P. one of the guys here might have an image of it that shows the original owner, or you could contact that guy that had it for sale and ask him the name on it.

General Discussion / Re: how about this one
« on: September 28, 2013, 04:54:08 PM »
he had a 69 Z that was special order paint, that he says was a 1965 Evening Orchid paint originally, and Jerry has said he saw in daylight by the weather striping and under the vinyl top on a previous inspection that the original color was silver (not midnight orchid). So motorman has started this thread showing a different special order paint 68 camaro that was sold at the same dealership, in order to give credence to his opinion that his former car was special ordered with the evening orchid color.
I am not saying Motorman is right, and I know Jerry has made errors in the past as well, just stating what I have seen posted. It is on team camaro, like 15 pages...
I am unsure if it is justified but,
It would be safe to say Motorman has an axe to grind...
......how many pages on our forum it will take up is yet to be determined.
