General Discussion / Re: 69 Z

Man I just looked at a calendar from 68. That would be awfully tight to near impossible I would think. 12-13-68 is a friday on the second week of the month. So they were able to produce the rear end on that friday and then run it over to the assembly line that same day for it to be installed in a car. It is not impossible but seems very improbable. IMO

So it sounds like I need to locate an "A" plug to replace my chewed up one.

Maintenance / Re: goodyear polyglas tires

I have had radial and bias ply tires on my Camaros, Mustangs and Impala, the radials are nice and have less friction going down the road. The bias ply IMO look period correct,( which I really like the squared off tire look), but tend to track a differently than the radials. I don't drive my vehicles often enough for it to bug me, if I drove them more often and on roads that had many cracks it may influence my decision making for what tires I would run. Also at this point with how expensive tires have gotten they would also factor in now a days.

You know what I need one for my car as well (late build 08C). The one I have on is the original but it looks like they used channel locks to take it off each time. I think it may have an "A" on it but can't be sure. I would also like to know what is the correct one for my car.

This item seems so trivial but I am glad you posted about it Rick.

good link, I thought it sounded familiar. Seems like even the later cars still had the 4 clip design from that thread

my 08C car had both styles that came with it. I know the owner purchased a couple in the 70's as replacements, so maybe my car had the 4 clip design, and the 2 replacements were the later style over the counter style? I am not sure if they were inter-changed or if there was a hard date.

The link is shut down until spring.

Just got my shirt (Large) today, the fit is spot on, and the shirt is nice quality. I even have a good idea on a back print....to be continued?

That makes sense, I just didn't think there was a significant difference between the two transmissions. I know the gearing is different, just wasn't night and day for me when I have driven both. I understand what you are saying though when shifting you want one gear right on top of the other to stay in the power band.

Thanks for all the info on this car Ed. What a website where you can inquire about a potential purchase, and be told the last 7 years of buy/sell history!!
I have seen Kurt do this as well for engines, and besides a great aid to our members, just plain impressive. WTG CRG!

I haven't received it yet, but I think it is a Navy front only size Large. I would think it would be here any day now. I am in California so I may be one of the farther shipping addresses, other than the guy in Sweden.

Well so far so Good Lawrence. Sounds like it was a acurate description on ebay up to this point. So you have a Gold Camaro, and now a Silver, is the next one going to be Bronze :D

Mild Modifications / Re: Cross Ram Z in action - sorta - check er out
« on: October 20, 2013, 04:01:10 PM »
The eye appeal is the main incentive that I see for installing one. From all the original articles I have read it sounds like the x ram was not street friendly, and it was hard to take advantage of the cam and x ram setup. I have a god article from Car Life ( August of 69), where they tested both and came away with the opinion that the x ram had a coolness factor to it, bt performance wise the stock 4 barrel would beat it in nearly every instance.
I would love to drive one just to se the difference :o
