with the new pics you posted, it is easier for me to see the spark plug boot shields look correct . BUT I see your heat riser valve positioned differently now as well. Is this the corrected pic?

You may want to check your orientation on your exhaust heat riser valve, we are discussing this on another thread on CRG. I think one person said it looks like this in the AIM others had factory unrestored ones parallel with the frame rail, or maybe they were installed both ways?
Also I can't tell for sure but your spark plug boot shields should have a semi curve notch in them, I can't seem to see it on yours, but maybe they have them and your manifolds are to clean for me to tell from the pic.

Originality / Re: 1100837 Alternator Stamping - Original?
« on: December 06, 2013, 04:47:07 PM »
Now I am not sure where I read this, but to my understanding, the machine that put the numbers on the casting rolled it on, so one could conclude if moving L. to Rt., pressure would be exerted down and also in a Rt. direction. When the pressure of the roller got to the end of the die more pressure was concentrated on less surface area resulting in the end letters, "A"&"G", being deeper and more pronounced and you can see in the pics the right side of the letters are elongated to the righthand direction showing the force of die roller. I also theorize that some characters (numbers-letters) were fixed in the die meaning bolted in so  they did not need to be changed as often. I say this because many stampings are heavier where the "837" is as opposed to the "1100" .  I believe that the 1100 was one set of "fixed" dies and the 837 was in another gang holder that could easily be swapped out. Don't beat me up, it is just  my theory based on observation, facts and what makes sense in production as I have an Aerospace machining background. Once the die was set up with the redundant information (everything except the date and the 837 or whatever last 3 numbers used), they would be shelved until needed and the rest of the data added explaining different boldness of characters. I should add the same pressure to surface  applies to the far Left characters as well. Also casting tolerances diameter and out of roundness affect clarity and depth of characters.
That sounds like pretty good reasoning.

Well I would say these are generalities. IMO any 69 that was built prior to February or March I would describe as early, just for the fact of still using the shorter spoiler. I would say April through July or beginning of August would be midyear based on the the gas tank dating changing in mid August, (and if there would have been a start to the 70 it would have started then) So late month cars would be the middle of August to the end of early November.

We all have a lot to be thankful for. I have been working on a thanksgiving report with my son, and have learned a few things regarding the settlers and William Bradford and the first thanksgiving. William Bradford may have been the first person to use capitalism in what we now call the United States of America, and our country may not have come to be, or had a first thanksgiving without his inspiration.

If not for capitalism we might have all been driving 4 door commuters, instead of all the great classics that were born from the competition among all the american car manufactures, including one of our favorites - Camaro

(Anyone who hasn't heard of William Bradford (such as myself) would benefit from a good read about the roots of this great country of ours.)

God Bless everyone on thanksgiving!

Ok 1969 Camaro owners this poll is for you. I just put up the 69 Z poll, this poll is for all the other 1969 Camaro factory 4 speed cars. Again just thought it would be interesting to see what factory 4 speeds we have in our cars. Please only vote if the 4 speed in your car is the factory 4 speed it came with, or what transmission it came with based on docs, pop, or vin stamp on the trans that verifies. I also hope there is some 6 cylinder participation here. I am unaware if all 6 cylinders that had were ordered as a 4 speed were Saginaw only cars or if you could get a muncie specified for a 6 cylinder car. ( I am assuming the 6 cylinder with a 4 speed was an option.) I tried to have a provision for any possibilities but we will see if someone posts info about another combo.

Sorry I had to change an option on the poll because it was redundant on options.

TO: The 2 guys who both have (2) Z/28 please vote again you should be able to check 2 options (one for each car now)
