Cool to see a SS Camaro with out the spoilers, I have gotten used to seeing every one of them with them. It seems like anytime one is gone through it is mandatory for the owner to throw them on..

Are you still running the traction bars? What rear end (gears) do you have in it ? I also noticed a rear spoiler but no front spoiler, was the rear added at one point? or did the front get sacrificed to a couple of driveways...Looks like the owner may have painted the grill black, or is that just the lighting? Also looks like you have the optional door guards :)

that is a WILD set up man! Are those copper or brass? The yellow car looks like a street beast with that set up on it...how did it go?
By the way if that mail pouch tobacco thermometer in the back round is still there, my father in law would be interested in it  ;D

Trans-Am Camaros / factory race parts
« on: December 24, 2013, 07:34:40 PM »
Hey was perusing through my Camaro lit, and saw a pic of a 12 bolt yoke with a pulley for a rear end oil cooler. Just wondering if anyone has this set up on a real car with the rest of the parts?
(Jon have you seen this installed?)

I think I saw that car for sale about a year or so ago, owner said the car came with the original numbers matching 302 as well. I can't remember the price but it seems like it was in the low 100k's. From what I remember he purchased the motor a few years prior. I remember thinking  it was kind of a shame it went into a show car that wouldn't see the open road. I am pretty sure Smokey would have frowned on that .. :(

You "gave" him the wheels back in 77. I heard of guys being nice, I don't think I have heard of guys giving parts away. Are you giving any other original parts away, I mean it is christmas time ya know... :D

Great insider info Lawrence. So it sounds like this guy is just trying to make a buck, by flipping it?
I really think you bought that silver car right, and I am glad it was as described. So you got the silver car for about 25k less and it didn't have the dents, nice.  ;D
So the orange car has a nice amount of documentation, maybe 55k or 60k judging by the bids would be a more realistic. ???

What your thoughts on comparing the two Lawerence? (since you saw both first hand)

I think the manual 6 out out of a 4th gen would work just fine. My friend has a 73 Camaro with an LS1 and one of the bigger turbo set ups that i have ever seen and doesn't have any issues. His car is built around autocross and has about 900 hp to the rear wheels

I commend your honesty...Who else would admit to almost making huge mods to make the car into something custom that would have killed the value and appeal years later?
Thank goodness money and time were not on your side back then and that good taste rose to the top over the years ;D

General Discussion / Re: 67 convertible 6 cyl 3 speed rare??
« on: December 23, 2013, 10:17:23 PM »
While I appreciate the original cars I would agree with sci-fly. If you turn that car into a SS clone 9 times out of 10, you are going to get a lot higher bids vs. an original 6 cylinder convertible. There is just more nostalgic memories and demand for those cars, than the 6 cylinders.

Maybe if the 6 cyl was a nice unrestored car like yours Gary, than you may have some more demand, but for this particular car, I would say no.

I would definitely try to obtain as much info as you can, I am still contact with the original owners wife of my car, and trying to get pics, and anything else they may run across. At this point any original items are priceless to me. Let us know how it goes

not bad Cam69. Not to sure about chrome removal. Might be easier to find a good original set of hood hinges, since every 69 had them. Smog can be pricey I have heard, they do make some nice chambered exhaust systems now, that jerry has given the thumbs up to. Plug wires aren't to hard to locate. I wonder if someone scrapped off the timing sticker from your radiator support?
I like the flat hood! ;) , Glad to have another member keeping their Camaro original!
