I remember reading the excerpts from the case. he tried to say that NOS means "new original style". The judge didn't go for it.

man that is nasty! I can think of no better motivation to do it the right way the first time then when I see pics of a guys work that looks like that.
KERR that car will be cherry when your done with it, and you will know it inside and out.
That car will end up being a blessing to you and your son:
Hopefully it will educate you and your son on how to buy a clean car and spot rot, or shaky body work, and you will both will know how much time and money it takes for the next project.

I applaud you for taking on this adventure!

if the guy is located in angola Indiana, yes he is a scammer. I bought a "original" wood grain steering wheel from him. It was a clear re pop luckily at the time I lived about an hour away and after him saying he was busy very time I contacted him , I drove out there on a whim and told him I had the wheel and was ready to get my money back. I told him the wheel looked to good. I got my money back, but while I was there you could see he had newly casted water necks he was selling on ebay as NOS, and on his feedback he had sold like 10 396 375 horse "original" intake manifolds. Back then I did a internet search on his name, and my search turned up a lawsuit a guy had against him for fraud regarding a cross ram intake.

They showed the 2014 Z 28 get sold but only because it was for charity sold to Rick Hendrick for 650k. Hammer price.

even if the new Z became a collectors item how long would it take to be worth $650k???

I think you could also get it on an SS as an upgrade. So with these 3 examples you see there were a handful of ways to get one from the factory. In fact most Z/28 's did not have have the ZL2 hood. When you factor the COPO, pace car convertibles/hardtop Z/10, and SS upgraded to the hood, I think it figures more like 1 in 11 Z/28 got the the hood . So for 1969, out of 20,302 Z/28 cars, probably less than 2,000 came with the ZL2 hood from the factory.

Chick, that black logo AC filter is a re-painted WIX?   :o
Here is the Wix equivalent of a PF-25 repainted. Will go on our Nova we plan to drive. Also note something else, that being the later 70's original PF-25's seem to have the top lip not painted as this example yet early one's and PF-29's seem to have paint on that lip. Just a side note.

Chick very nice art work on the filters. You sound like you really did your homework on that one   ;)

Beautiful work ,you are quite the artist. Forgot Napa put their name on Wix ,what I use on my daily drivers. Even my Zero turn. And you are correct, Wix is a very popular brand around here at the strip via the local engine builders--why I mentioned it. As far as Napa ,my Dad was just telling me he always ran their HD cap/rotor and points with no issues in the Z , and recommend it seeing as I'm going back to the OE distributer. Probably still listed.

Jano that might have been the case as recent as 6 or 7 years ago. I remember being able to get brand new (not remanufactured) delco starters, and alternators from napa. They had the nicest parts by far. You paid a bit more, but you didn't have to numerous trips back to the store to return junk parts. Unfortunately Napa is just as bad as Auto Zone, and O'Riely (shucks kragen, checkers), if not worse. they are more pricey but now you are getting all the made in china stuff, so the quality has gone off a cliff. It seems like it happened right about the time they started sponsering Toyota in nascar and major motor events, go figure....

All I am saying is do your homework, they may list the part number but I would almost bet the part is of much lessor quality than what your dad was getting from them.

Originality / Re: wheel trim rings
« on: January 18, 2014, 08:36:12 PM »
My 08C car came with both the 4 clip design, and the fingers all the way around. I have the original spare (which got some use since they used to rotate all 5, you old timers might remember this  :D ) as well and there were marks from both trim rings. This led me to believe that the 4 clip were still in the parts bin. I have 2 invoices from the original owner of my car in the early 70's where he purchased a couple pairs. I assume at this point the later style was what was sold.

*One thing to mention the original fiberglass cowl hood used on the cross ram did not have 302 emblems.

he shows one original pic, but the letter next to it says there is another, you want to inquire about him posting the second pic. Jano made a good point about the body work, if there were any pics taken then. It looks like some others have taken notice on how clean this car is, (62k reserve not met)
