General Discussion / 1969 Z/28 worth looking at
« on: April 30, 2016, 05:28:19 PM »
Hey guys, I ran across this ad on eBay. Looks to be an original Glacier blue 69 Z, and it appears to have the original drive train.
it is a 06A car, and has the U16 tach and center fuel gage (no console).
I don't see many numbers matching project Z cars these days, so I thought I would post a link in case someone is looking.

Maybe Kurt can verify the DZ block stamp looks ok. He also posts a pic of the Vin stamp, which is nice for a eBay auction to show.

Hey guys just thought I would let you know what else is out there as far as the car culture goes. This link is to a Hagerty page that shows 5 different car cultures you may not have known of:
https://www.hagerty.com/articles-videos/Articles/2016/04/14/Car-Subcultures?utm_source=ExactTarget&utm_medium=email&utm_term=&utm_content=&utm_campaign=Hagerty%20Weekly%20News%204-20-2016

You will get a good laugh out of these.
1. hit my link above
2. scroll down and read each description
3. hit their link to see examples of each

I knew all but 1.

IMO- (for 4 of these categories) A lot of time spent for cars that will wind up in the junk yard ;D

Decoding/Numbers / Dealer trade?
« on: April 18, 2016, 02:58:12 PM »
VIN: 124379L511422

How can a car with a warranty book and POP showing it was sold in Phoenix AZ have a NCRS report that it was shipped to a dealer in Utah?

Dealer trade?

Paul

Yup, possible.  From Utah to Arizona has me question it though.  That's a hike.  Anyone know of other new cars traded among dealers with that kind of distance?

According to the NCRS my car was sold to a dealer in Ohio, But then my original invoice and the rest of my paperwork shows Plymouth Michigan, and that is where the original owner purchased it, and picked it up in August of 69 new. So I am thinking dealer swap or something.

I saw this eBay Auction and although we are a first gen site I know Sonny, Charley and a few others have a second gen.

I have see write ups on this 70 Z, before and seems to be a very nicely restored car. Maybe Charley or somebody has seen it first hand. It looks to be like a car that may have been at McaaN?

Plus the color is one of my favorites for this year, To bad the 69 Camaros did not have an option for it.

General Discussion / Home page- your car could be the feature car!!
« on: January 30, 2016, 07:26:42 PM »
Well I couldn't find the thread about the feature car on the home page that was unlocked. So I am starting this one.

I am curious if more submittals have come in for the feature car, or not.

I really like this feature and want to make sure it keeps going. (I am pretty sure this question is for Bryon)but I wanted to post this in area where everyone would see it , and have the opportunity to submit pics and the story of their car. Or respond if they had further questions of condition, or if their car is worthy. ( any car is worthy IMO)

thanks guys :)

General Discussion / 1968 Z/28 spiral shocks
« on: January 28, 2016, 04:39:37 PM »
So as some of you know I am looking for a original set of spiral shocks for my 69Z. (3192477 front ) and (3192851 rear)

Well I ran across these today on eBay. 3192477 and dated late 67 (278 67). He says they are early take offs.
Best thing is the title for his listing does not say Z/28, so they may go fairly cheap.
I know there are a handful of guys with 68Z cars on here, and I have had a hard to locating shocks for my car, so hopefully this find helps you guys out!

General Discussion / Would you pay more for a rare color?
« on: January 21, 2016, 04:23:22 PM »
Would you pay more for a rare color ? if it was a desirable rare color how much more?

Ok this may have been discussed before but ZLP955 question about Corvette Bronze made me think of this question.

So Price is related to demand right? So most likely, if the condition was the same, a hugger orange car would go for more than a burnished brown car, just based on there is more demand for the orange than the brown, (sorry BB guys).

Now Orange is not a rare color vs. burnished brown, but what if the color of the car was corvette bronze and just for argument sake we are talking about a SS model. How much more would the purchase price go up for that desirable color? vs. just a red, blue or black?

Now I know everybody has different tastes, and more recently you see re-stamps with 10 10 (black) or 72 72 (Orange) on them, but while those colors have a following and there might be a slight uptick in price for them, I wouldn't say either is rare.

Now there are other "rare" colors like gold champaign in 69 but I wouldn't put that in the same category as Corvette bronze.

I know not everyone is a fan of Corvette bronze, just trying to get an idea of how much more that color would bring. thanks :)

Site Comments/Discussion / website nuances
« on: January 21, 2016, 04:04:36 AM »
So it seems like it started today, when I get an email regarding a new comment has been posted, the link in the email is no longer highlighted and I am not able to just click on it and go directly to the page.

The other thing I noticed is the forum page used to show how many members were registered in the top right corner and I no longer see that either. O r maybe it moved to somewhere else?

General Discussion / 1969 Z/28 authenticated by the a member of the CRG?
« on: December 10, 2015, 01:59:31 AM »
Hey Guys just ran across this 69 Z.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-Z-28-/171973884298?forcerrptr=true&hash=item280a71398a:g:JrIAAOSwyvBV90sg&item=171973884298
I thought it was interesting that the seller says the motor was authenticated original by a judge and member of the CRG, but then doesn't say anything about the trans or rear end which he states as an original 3.55 :1. Would have been nice to see the canadian docs.

Just curious Which CRG member authenticated this car, and did all canadian Camaros have a factory sticker on the passenger side wheel well documenting it as such?

General Discussion / Interesting Z on ebay
« on: July 16, 2015, 09:11:51 AM »
Hey Guys saw this Gold Z in a somewhat rare color combo of white stripes/white vinyl top, and with a white interior.
Also has a X ram set up, and certified by Jerry

$71K reserve not met.

It is a clean car, but I can't figure out if guys are bidding more for the rare color combo, or because of the X- ram

Lets see what it bids up to!

Restoration / Camaro Vs. Firebird = what is compatible?
« on: July 14, 2015, 03:56:42 AM »
Hey guys still looking for a 1969 non spoiler deck lid for a friend, and think I may have found one. It is off of a 1969 Firebird though:
There are no emblem holes present, and in looking at the underside it looks like it has the provision for the Camaro emblem.

So does anyone know a issue with running a deck lid from a firebird? What other differences am I missing?

thanks

General Discussion / Where do you find the best parts?
« on: July 10, 2015, 05:35:44 AM »
Hey Guys,
Seems like most of us are in the same boat when it comes to our Camaros, and we are continually looking for another nice piece, to get our cars that much closer to our goal. In talking with a fellow member we were both curious where everyone actually FINDS the best parts. So while most of us may search most areas, this is a poll designed with the goal of knowing where the best odds are to locate those elusive good parts.

Remember each person only gets 2 votes.

If I left anything out, please comment.

thanks!

Hey guys here's one for a laugh. ( I am making a cross country trip with my kids tomorrow, and trying to locate a clean 69 (non-spoiler) deck lid for a fellow CRG- er, and I ran across this Ad:
https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/cto/5086506026.html

Not sure wether to laugh or cry. I wonder how much time and energy was put into this car over the years..

This one pic is just the tip of this ugly iceberg. You have to see all the pics to understand how much they did not like the looks of the Camaro   :o

(Also if anyone has a non spoiler deck lid please PM me. thanks)
