General Discussion / My new project....
« on: May 03, 2017, 06:43:06 AM »
So I have been on the hunt for a 67 Camaro (driver type car)and have probably looked at about 6 or 7 in person, and many more on the net. I was set on finding a 4 speed car. Well I did find a really nice original one but it was an automatic, so I passed. I saw many junky ones and passed on them as well. So I thought maybe I should expand my search and added a few models into the mix. So almost everyday I would check ebay daily as well as craigslist and do some random searches. Well a few weeks ago I hit the jackpot.

It was a funny listing for a 69 camaro with a 302, but then had a super small pic of a white SS. It had only been posted for 37 minutes, so I emailed the seller and got lucky, since I was the first one to contact him. He said it was his uncles car who is 82 years old, and since his hip/knee surgury a while back he was ready to sell. I told him I was very interested and would be on the road quickly, and I knew he was a bit of a drive from me, I asked if he could be patient for me to get there, and let me be the first to see it.
He texted me a couple of real pics of the car, and I was blown away:

Originality / 1969 Z/28 spare tire hook size?
« on: May 02, 2017, 08:33:31 PM »
So I am doing some "research" for a 69Z, and it is missing the spare tire hook. I checked my neighbors stock 68 Camaro, and his is 8.5. I asked Gary on here and he had a couple, one of which is 9.5. So my question is what is the correct size for a 69Z, and was it exclusive to the Z, for any reason. Anyone with a 69 and a original spare tire hook size please chime in with the length.

(BTW this is for an early Los Angeles 69Z , if it makes any difference)

thanks

General Discussion / 1969 Z trim tag real?
« on: February 20, 2017, 05:41:02 AM »
So,  I was on ebay, and saw this car.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Chevrolet-Camaro-RS-Z28-Hardtop-2-Door-/232244550563?forcerrptr=true&hash=item3612da9ba3:g:vE8AAOSwLEtYjSZ1&item=232244550563

I like the color of this 69 Z, But when I looked at the trim tag.., it looked kinda funny (fake) to me.
I would like to get some other options though

thanks

Decoding/Numbers / Funny looking trim tag

Saw this listing today:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Chevrolet-Camaro-Camaro-Z-28-/391601881064?forcerrptr=true&hash=item5b2d4a7fe8:g:Tt0AAOSwnbZYCk9Z&item=391601881064

I have never seen a 4L date code. I am guessing original tag, but mis-stamped?

Wish they would have gone back with the Rally Green paint, I would like to see all these obscure colors come back in popularity, so guys go back with there original paint colors.

So I saw this eBay seller that posted a ton of Northeast Chevrolet dealer plates on eBay and thought some of you guys may be looking for one to put with your car, or on the front of your car. He has some U.S.A. #1 plates from dealers which I thought was a late 60's -70's time frame.
Here is auction for one of them:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/CONWAY-BUICK-CHEVROLET-DEALERSHIP-ADVERTISING-LICENSE-PLATE-FROM-PEPPERELL-MA-/371745305866?hash=item568dbf350a:g:P2MAAOSwmLlX5o-a

If you hit the button on see sellers other items, you will see the many others he has. All reasonably priced I thought.

Good luck!

Garage Talk / new 1LE pulls off faster lap times than the 5th gen Z/28
« on: September 21, 2016, 01:38:37 AM »
Thought this was an interesting story. The new 2017 1LE pulls off faster lap times than the 5th gen Z/28 at Laguna Secca,
check it out:
http://gmauthority.com/blog/2016/09/2017-chevrolet-camaro-ss-1le-quicker-around-laguna-seca-than-a-z28-video/

(Probably cheaper than 75k as well) Actual 2017 1LE price ($44,490) the 1LE is a +$6500 to a 1SS.

In actuality about 11k cheaper than the 2017 Shelby GT350:

http://gmauthority.com/blog/2016/08/2017-chevrolet-camaro-ss-1le-undercuts-shelby-gt350-with-6500-package-price/

cool video. Makes you wonder what the 6th gen Z/28 will do at the track?

General Discussion / Another fake Z....
« on: August 30, 2016, 04:50:10 AM »
So here is my 69 Camaro contribution of the day...of course another fake Z. :P

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Chevrolet-Camaro-True-Z28-/231950072181?forcerrptr=true&hash=item36014d3975:g:7J0AAOSwEOxXPgSW&item=231950072181

(Can you recognize one when you see one?)

This one was a little easier to spot, or I am getting better recognizing the fake from the authentic... :D

I know you 68 guys (Darrell) will be all over this....Just the floor mats alone are going to get you to bid... ;D

Got a chuckle the other day when I heard so many guys say they wish they had a BB car with a bench and column shift.
So I ran across 67 RS/SS  today. Looks nice, with a build sheet as a bonus:

General Discussion / Rarest 69 Camaro ever?
« on: August 01, 2016, 05:24:34 AM »
I saw this on craigslist, and while I can testify that this is the rarest 69 Camaro ever, I thought you gents would like to see what he is laying claim to:

Originality / Just checking for a SS fact
« on: July 16, 2016, 06:24:26 PM »
Just checking here to make sure I am reading the CRG page correctly:
You could order a 69 SS automatic car, and if you did not opt for the console then it was shift on the column?
I think that is what it is saying here:

http://www.camaros.org/options.shtml

Just wanted to make sure. Also does anyone know the rough percentage of SS automatic cars that are shift on the column?

Decoding/Numbers / Dating Camaro radiators, and decoding
« on: July 14, 2016, 06:10:40 PM »
Hi guys, so a few of us thought it would be a good idea to build a data base of Original Camaros and what the date of there radiator is. This will be similar to the gas tank thread and applies to 67,68 & 69 Camaros. So Post your Build date and the date of your radiator. I encourage a picture, but it isn't mandatory. Here is Jimmy V's info:

Early 69 Camaro

Date 10B -Radiator code H

(You can see the H right in between the C and B)

(you may have a radiator tag still attached right there, and it may take pulling it back slightly to see the letter code between the C and B)

If you would like more info on your radiator code or tag info

 http://www.camaros.org/coolingsystems.shtml

This thread is to establish date interval of the build of our cars with the date on the radiator, to see the spread that could be used through each model year, and its relation of radiator assembly to install in the car.

Hey guys, so as some of you know I have been looking for an original LOF soft ray (tinted) windshield for my (late 08C) 69 Camaro, and while I have run across a handful, some clear and some tinted I haven't found one that fits the bill yet.
(yes I know they reproduce it)  :)
I thought I would put this on here though for any of you guys with later cars built September or October, or November of 69. This guy has a complete set of original glass on eBay.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-CAMARO-PASSENGER-AND-DRIVER-SIDE-FRONT-AND-REAR-QUARTER-GLASS-USED-/121997513850?hash=item1c679e547a:g:SxAAAOSwBmZWCeCg&vxp=mtr

I was going to make him an offer on all of it just for the windshield, but he sent me a close up of the etching and it is dated YV, (october of 69). So, to late for my car. So I thought I would pass it on to the next guy who may have a late car, or just a guy who has a 69 and is looking for a complete set of glass, and isn't worried about the date. The glass is in PA.
P.S. - I do not know the seller, just texted with him to get the pics of the windshield which were not on the auction.

Hope this helps someone out.

Garage Talk / Met a fellow CRG-er today
« on: May 22, 2016, 04:59:55 AM »
Hey guys I wanted to post that I made a little road trip today and met up with Bentley.
Bentley lives out the middle of BFE (middle ohio) and he actually made time and drove over an hour maybe close to 2, and met up with me. We traded stories, and even though I am in the dog house with my wife for "wasting time" meeting up with a car guy. I felt it was worth the trip.

Thanks Bentley for making time to meet up.

Keep on keeping on, and lets get your car on a schedule buddy!

 ;)
