Well we discussed that red 69Z on ebay for 23.9 that just sold. I just saw this one very similar to that car but 72 72 Hugger Orange for $22,500:

According to the map it looks to be located just south of indianapolis?

(One draw back compared with the red one, is this is a pre X code trim tag car, but he said it is present behind the rear seat.)

General Discussion / Home page and feature car

Since we cannot comment on the other page anymore, I started this one to open a discussion on the Home page cars and the feature car. It is unfortunate no-one has submitted their car in the last month or so. I don't think it is because a lack of interest, in general I think most guys don't check the thread to know how many cars you have on deck.
 I think it is a great idea to have cars rotate from the home page, and it sounds like the CRG just needs more submissions. I have enjoyed all the write ups with the additional pics. From project cars like Bentleys yellow 69 with the tunnel ram, to the stock builds. It would be nice if there was a link to have on hand on past feature cars, so we can go back and read about them or use them for reference.
One suggestion in the future features or just pics, is there is quite a few guys I would like to see more of their cars. I know we can send personal messages to guys to submit, but how about just nominating a couple guys cars every couple of months?
Me personally I would like to see Jano's 68 Z, also NoYenkos 69, also some of the guys that have unrestored cars, as well as some of the exported Camaros .
I think it would also be cool to see a write up from the Guys who still participate with their Trans am racers all across the country, and can't remember ever seeing one of their cars on the home page, yet there are a decent group who check in and participate in the threads.

To sum things up I would like to keep the feature car and others going, and if guys are too shy or do not want to boast, I think a little coaxing or nominating of their cars may give them the idea that it is ok to show off their prize.

Well I saw in another thread a member asking about values. I did not want to clog up his thread, so I started one on this car:

I think it has a lot going for it originality wise, but is on the short side of Survivor because there is SO much patina. So it is going to need a full resto, just to save it.

Already at $35k. We will see if that is a serious bid

At 22k so far, no reserve. Fun to watch these unrestored cars.

General Discussion / black 69 RS/SS Caveat Emptor?

So I saw this 69 Camaro on ebay, and it has been generating a lot of interest. I wasn't sure if I should piggy back onto a previous thread or not, so I started a new one.
Here is the ebay listing:

It shows a late 69 (08A) Camaro SS with a trim tag showing 10. Maybe Kurt and William have seen enough of these were it is no big deal. I don't see that many late in the year with a factory black paint job, and would like some more insight. Have black cars been documented this late in the year?

Note *The trim tag doesn't look right to me, when I compare it to others I have on file

Always on the hunt, and keeping tabs on the market. With the recent craziness from the results of the recent Barret Jackson auction, I thought there are many good cars out there still.

I ran across this one the other night:

Appears to be a very straight forward SS-350 car, with a 4 speed, and P-O-P. Seller says original ZL-2 hood, which if ordered with the car is kinda rare. Great color combo, with the correct sport stripes. Has a decent amount of patina for me to like it.

Just in case anyone is looking for a nice car, this one looked like a solid car that IMO is priced right.

How much do we love our hobby? Will all first gens eventually turn into a SS or Z/28?

So with the appearance of another fake 69Z, I got to thinking:20,302 is a lot of 69 Z/28's. If it were less like 68 it would be nice to have a (smaller) registry. If each Z got inspected and then there was a national registry of known real cars, a potential buyer could then contact them, and verify a real car. I think you could still do it with the 69 Z and SS and pace cars, you would have just need to develop a database to keep track of the cars by Vin number, and trim tag. You could put notes in like Jerry M verified drive train, or Steve S inspected car at MCACN and verified original stamped components.
If this was done and could be viewed online. Would this be an easier way to curb guys passing off fakes? or maybe it would cause guys to copy known cars, so maybe pay for a document, like a rough draft MARTI report, on what is known about a car?

Seems like many of us who like to police ebay and the fake cars out there could come up with a database that could be over seen by a team of guys, and passed down to younger generations as time goes on. These cars are going to outlive us, hell some of them are coming back from the dead with re-bodies (wouldn't it be nice if we could get a re-body?  )
I think the CRG is a great resource for many owners, but I think developing a data base for all to utilize would be a nice Legacy for us to leave behind for the Camaro owners that follow us.

I would appreciate some input from the many CRG members and administrators on this one. I may even get a poll going if enough good ideas or questions are raised .

(BTW -I think Kurt, Ed and others have done a good job of posting info on cars that are parading around as something special now, I just would like to expand this)

General Discussion / High bids for this California 69Z, I don't even think this is an original Z car!

So I saw this ad for a 69Z on ebay, and thought ok at first, nice patina, driver type car. But the more I looked over the pics, the more I suspected this never was a Z car. Rear end is nowhere close to the right date, the shifter location looks all wrong to me, besides it is the wrong assembly unit. The last line of the auction says it has a tilt column, and made me think it may have been a shift on the column, that someone converted to floor shift.

The amazing thing is this car is bid up to 32k, reserve not met?

(Has a aftermarket cross ram, but come on, what am I missing here?)

There is a good picture of the firewall tag, but I couldn't find a good link to post the VIN. Hopefully Kurt has the VIN number and pics on file, for when it turns up restored at auction.

So I had been talking to a new member, and he disclosed some plans he has for making a few changes in the new year. So I had been thinking of things that I am kinda working on, or towards, and thought it would be good to hear from some of the guys here what they are trying to get done currently or in the coming months.

For me I was able to finally get a temp gauge, and oil pressure gauge mounted in my white 69, so I don't have to rely on the idiot lights. Felt like I was driving blind. I am am still trying to locate a Stewart Warner 990B transmitter, to get my tach operational. I also located a set of (4)Goodyear wide tread GT tires for a pretty good deal. So if I can pull that off and swap out my BFG's for those, that would be cool.

So he has this 1969 Z/28 (124379N626613) for sale (up for bid), and he discloses it does not have the original transmission. He shows a good pic of the trans partial VIN 19N648286. So if you have a 69 Camaro with VIN 124379N648286 you are the lucky winner. Hopefully you find this thread and are able to track down the new owner and work out a trade. Good luck!
