Originality / Parts found from the Original owner of my 1969 Z/28
« on: April 22, 2014, 07:59:29 PM »
I bought my Z back in 2008, and then sadly soon after the original owner past away. I have formed a good relationship with the son of the original owner, who along with his mom (original owners wife), has provided a lot of great stories about the car and its owner.

Well I got a cryptic email last week from the son, who said he found some original GM boxes with some familiar handwriting (his dads familiar script). So I was super excited except I didn't know what to expect. Well I started getting some pics this week, and although this isn't like finding a JL8 car or something, to find these parts is like Christmas for me. To get the parts along with a note from the original owner, is like a gift from beyond the grave!

more pics to follow...

General Discussion / Calling all texans!
« on: April 15, 2014, 01:43:12 AM »
Ok this is borderline Camaro related, but I have no luck trying all other avenues so I thought I would give this a whirl.

I have been looking for a specific vintage floor Jack (for use with my Camaro), and after many searches and posts on other boards I gentleman contact me who has this particular floor jack. We have a agreement on price, but for the life of me I have had trouble trying to arrange shipping.  *Since the floor jack is older, the handle doesn't come off real easy , and seller prefers not to dismantle it.
I can find guys that are able to ship it but the cost way exceeds the cost of the floor jack. So I am putting a call out to all the texans to see if anyone may be able to pick up the jack for me, and then we can put together a plan from there. The floor jack is located right by Houston, on the Katy Houston line.

I am open to any and all ideas on this one.

Thanks guys

General Discussion / Temecula ROD RUN
« on: March 09, 2014, 02:21:54 AM »
I had a great time at the Temecula ROD RUN this year. It takes place in southern california, they shut down old town Temecula and pack as many cars in there as they can. Starts on Friday, then there is an exclusive old car cruise friday night, and full show down front street on saturday.  Last year they figured they had 70,000 people come out for the show. I think they get about 500 cars, ranging from rat rods to Camaros Knight rider( K.I.T.T) , the back to the future Deloren, Herbie the Love Bug, You can meet Vic Edelbrock and see all the newest and greatest offerings from his company. I wore my CRG shirt for the first time, and met Jack, and Zack fellow CRG members for the first time. THE SHIRT WORKS!

Great guys and good times. My wife and kids were out there all day today and everyone had a good time. Pictures to follow....

General Discussion / How long have you owned your Camaro?
« on: February 28, 2014, 06:06:14 PM »
Ok fellas, James (ko-lec-tor) said he wanted to see a poll on how long we have owned each of our Camaros, so here is a new poll for all of us first Gen guys to participate in. If you have more than one car, vote based on the 1st Gen Camaro you have owned the longest.   ;)
If you have a good story about how long you have had it, or how long you looked, or how long you waited for the owner to sell it to you, post the story below.

Enjoy!!

General Discussion / NEW 2014 Camaro model Z/28.R the race version
« on: January 27, 2014, 09:38:23 AM »
Saw this posted about a new 2014 Z/28.R and it being a race version and thought it was interesting. I don't see where it specifically says what the differences are, just the similarities....enjoy (or curse) your choice. :D
thought it might have been better if it is that similar then lose the ".R" designation. Let the Z/28 stand on its own

http://www.windingroad.com/articles/blogs/chevrolet-reveals-2014-camaro-z28r-race-car/

it will be interesting to see how it does among competition .... we will have to post the results after it races. Alone on a closed course is one thing, in race with top brands is another.

(Camaro Z/28.R race car debuts in a 2.5-hour endurance race ahead of the 52nd Rolex 24 At Daytona) so not quite ready for the big boy races

Originality / Original fan belt
« on: December 27, 2013, 06:37:30 PM »
Hey guys, I am trying to figure out what the original part number for the 1969 Z/28 fan/alternator/smog belt is. I see in the AIM it says for a sbc with a manual it is GM3883248, but then see the repop guys list a part number GM3932457, although I didn't find this in the AIM.
In addition to the part number I am also trying to figure out what is assembly line correct. I have seen 2 versions of GM belts, ones that have the GM number stamped/pressed in , and have also seen the part number raised off of the belt in a crisp font. See pic (Thank you Hans for digging those out)
Hans pic of his belts came off a 69 Los Angeles car, not sure if the Norwood parts bin would be the same, or if there was an earlier and later version of the belt(s).

Trans-Am Camaros / factory race parts
« on: December 24, 2013, 07:34:40 PM »
Hey was perusing through my Camaro lit, and saw a pic of a 12 bolt yoke with a pulley for a rear end oil cooler. Just wondering if anyone has this set up on a real car with the rest of the parts?
(Jon have you seen this installed?)

Ok 1969 Camaro owners this poll is for you. I just put up the 69 Z poll, this poll is for all the other 1969 Camaro factory 4 speed cars. Again just thought it would be interesting to see what factory 4 speeds we have in our cars. Please only vote if the 4 speed in your car is the factory 4 speed it came with, or what transmission it came with based on docs, pop, or vin stamp on the trans that verifies. I also hope there is some 6 cylinder participation here. I am unaware if all 6 cylinders that had were ordered as a 4 speed were Saginaw only cars or if you could get a muncie specified for a 6 cylinder car. ( I am assuming the 6 cylinder with a 4 speed was an option.) I tried to have a provision for any possibilities but we will see if someone posts info about another combo.

Originality / What kind of transmission do you have in your 69 Z?
« on: November 27, 2013, 09:26:04 PM »
Ok a poll for JUST 69 Z/28 guys. In a recent thread we were speculating what the percentage is for each transmission installed from the factory and it was suggested the CRG could have some numbers from its members cars so then it would give us a good enough sample size to have a good idea of what percentage of each transmission was installed in the 69 Z/28. Again this is just for the 1969 Z/28. I am from the understanding that all Z/28's came with a muncie, but I put the option for a sagnaw or other just in case somebody has a documented car with something other than a muncie.

I also put in the option in this poll for members to vote more than once if they happen to have more than one 1969 Z/28, but make sure you don't accidentally vote more than once (if you own only 1) or it will throw off the poll. (if you do make a mistake, you can change your vote)

*I will also do a poll for 1969 NON Z/28 cars (SS, COPO, Plain jane, 6 cylinder, etc) because I would like to also see how the transmissions were dispersed among all the other factory 4 speed cars. Once completed this should give us an idea of how often each transmission was installed.
